<description>I generally agree, but I think there&amp;#039;s a balance. On my teams, we have the principle (stolen from restaurant kitchens) of, &amp;quot;Everyone works the line.&amp;quot; It means that everybody understands all the roles in the &amp;quot;kitchen&amp;quot; and is capable of filling them if necessary. This isn&amp;#039;t just useful from a versatility standpoint, it&amp;#039;s also important from a &amp;quot;mindmeld&amp;quot; standpoint. In other words, I can better complement if I understand your role deeply and if I can get into your head a bit.  The challenge, as always, is striking the right balance. This article suggests that Tom Brady strikes a better balance than Peyton Manning does in this regard, but if we&amp;#039;re using those two as case studies to decide this, we&amp;#039;re truly grasping at straws. Both approaches are great if either of those two is your quarterback. </description>

<description>You&amp;#039;re getting into the stuff I decided not to get into in my post. :-) I agree, you can&amp;#039;t just make wholesale conclusions based on these numbers. You have to consider context, etc.  I tweet about a lot of things, including tech, which is predominantly male. I feel like I know and follow a lot of great women in tech, and so my numbers might actually reflect favorably toward me.  However, I also have a disproportionate percentage of female colleagues due to my work in the collaboration space. (Of the seven people at my previous company, I was the only man.) Not as many of them are as vocal online as I would like, but many of them are on Twitter at least.  Again, you can&amp;#039;t read too much into a simplified metric. If you did a content analysis of my blog, for example, I think you would find that I cite female colleagues far more often than male.  I don&amp;#039;t want to jump to any conclusions, but I&amp;#039;m certain I&amp;#039;m guilty of implicit biases, and &amp;mdash; even accounting for all kinds of rationalization &amp;mdash; I was still surprised by that 75% male retweet number. I&amp;#039;d love to play with an experiment in countering those biases, similar to what Anil did. </description>

<description>I was referring to my general notes about scheduling, not my specific requests. They&amp;#039;re generally pretty good about meeting the latter.  I felt stuck at first as well, but once I let go of trying to come up with the perfect, prioritized task, it started making sense pretty quickly. Now I just make the requests as they come to me, and it works out pretty well. </description>
