Hi Raymond,
Drinking enough water has been a struggle for me for years. I just don't drink much, in fact I don't drink much of anything. I just never really feel that thirsty. I make a conscious effort to drink more, but it turns out to be one more thing that I have to make myself do. I try and drink more, but I quit worrying about it so much. I am 42, in pretty good shape, and made it this far without drinking a ton of water. That being said, I still am going to drink more. Do margaritas count? ;-)

Raymond,
I took some time off from running this winter because my one knee was giving me some issues. I am ready to start again. In fact me and my wife are going to run tomorrow morning. She has been running for over ten years! We are going to do some short races this summer, so I need to get back in the groove. I will try leaning in to it and see how it goes.

Raymond,
The protein snack balls look really good! I think I am going to give them a try. I think you are taking the fun out of cheating though! You are way more disciplined than me, that's for sure! That is why you stay so lean.

I think that step 5 is so important. Once you review your progress, you can adjust and tweak what you are doing. If you regularly evaluate and adjust, you will eventually reach your goal. It may take longer than you originally thought, but unless you quit, you will reach your goal.

Good post Vaclac. I tried for years to get bigger so I could look better for my wife. She always told me that she like the smaller, lean look better than the bodybuilder steroid head look. I always thought that she was just trying to make me feel better. It turns out that in reality, she and most women really do like this look better!

I agree and can vouch for intervals followed by steady state. I've done them both and it definitely works. The only drawback is the time it takes for steady state. I usually only have a limited amount of time and don't do steady state as much. It works when I do it though!

Ray,
You are incredibly ripped! If we were grading on a curve, you would definitely be helping us older guys out for sure! Good work man!

Raymond,
I totally agree with you that intermittent fasting is the way to go. As you know, I lost over thirty pounds since last year and have easily maintained it. I only use fasting as a tool to keep my weight where i want it to be and never stress over what I eat. Granted, I eat pretty clean during the week but on the weekends, I eat whatever I want and just fast around three or four times a month to stay in check.

The main reason that these people gained their weight back was because they never changed their lifestyle, they just temporarily did what it took to win and then went right back to how they used to eat. The same thing that made them overweight in the first place made them gain it all back.
