You're kidding, right? Did they really call the cops?

It's not that the CHP has failed to convince Christians that they have the best plan. Most Christians have nothing against the CHP except this one point: They will never take power. Like everyone else, Christians like to win their elections. The real debate isn't the CHP's platform. The debate is whether a Christian can influence politics more by voting for a party that will never take power or by voting for another party whose platform is less than adequate but better than the others.

Instead of cancelling your vote, which is a good way to show that you take your civic duty seriously, but is about as useful as staying home, you should vote for the party that's the closest to what you want.

How exactly does a party go about "earning" a vote? I suppose the Conservative party earned your vote in the last election with their ambivalent stance on abortion and their pseudo-conservative platform?

I ran for the CHP in May 2011, and got just over 100 votes, which means that the overwhelming majority of professing Christians voted for someone else, probably the Conservative party. Regardless of what the Conservative party says or does, Christians will keep voting for them.

Wishful thinking. A "child" in the Criminal Code, yes, but unfortunately not a child in Canadian law. Single pieces of legislation can define words as they wish, and that doesn't affect the usual meaning of the word elsewhere.

Lépine was fast-tracked from parish priest to archbishop in about a year. Goes to show how messed up the church is in Quebec: Rome couldn't find any bishops to fill the spot, and had to hand-pick a lowly parish priest.

Parliament or the legislature? Unfortunately, I believe the question of personhood belongs to the provinces. And even if a province were to redefine the foetus as a "person" in law, there is no doubt in my mind that the SCC would find some reason why that would be a violation of the Charter and thus unconstitutional. The Constitution, largely unwritten in Canada, is like a magic hat the courts can use to fish out whatever they need to violate our democratic rights for ideological reasons. With the way it's interpreted by the SCC, one would think our Constitution was devised by Stalin himself.

It's not just a problem of bishops. The problem is deeper: the Catholic Church is corrupt (except for a few grassroots elements, mostly laity, and some rare exceptions in bishops). Its official doctrine is fine, and will always be, but its leaders are mostly unbelievers who teach heresy. The average diocese is a big unprofitable business whose only goal is to continue existing. The only time anyone ever hears from a diocese is during their fund-raising campaign.

Of course my evaluation of the situation is based on Quebec, and it may not be fair to transpose it on the entire Church.

Go to an average mass and you'll come up with lots of epithets: Irrelevant, ridiculous, inappropriate, sacrilegious, but certainly not cool.

"whether I do or don't has always been MY CHOICE... Men may express any wish they like in that direction, but the woman will always have the final say. "

You seem to be ignorant of the fact that having children is done with two people, both a man and a woman. The number of times I've heard women say they'd like to have more children, but their spouse doesn't want any more... Looks to me like he has a say. Not all women who want children can have them, especially those who harp on about their choice instead of becoming partners with a man in this project. Not many men are attracted by such women. Since they won't have children of their own, they must force-feed their ideology to the children of others if they wish the next generation to be like them.

"But where are you going with the "harm" tangent? What "harm?" "

Our enemies would indoctrinate our children with the poison of atheism, feminism, and relativism. Moral harm is just as bad as physical injury.
