We can argue that aid helps our national security - but more importantly it's the right thing to do. We've promised 0.7%, and it is only right that we keep our promises. Good to see this post getting the support it deserves.

Claire, I love this post - thank you for sharing that story. I think it's hugely important that we're able to explain using real stories why all of this stuff matters. Our own personal experience is fundamental to why we do this work, and it's a little scary when you start to open up about it.

Absolutely spot on. Recommendations 3 and 5 are particularly true in my work - it's great to see the beginnings of these types of cross-sectoral alliances (East London Green Jobs Alliance has just got off the ground). As for need to be led by members - this is key for the future of NGOs. Large civil societies should start to see themselves as facilitators of action, and not the planners, doers and fundraisers and rather provide wisdom, access and resources.
