There are three articles that may apply to President Obama.

In correspondence between the Immigration Service and Mrs. Soetoro, Barack Obama is always referred to as "her son from a previous marriage" or the "the child from a prior marriage", never as the adopted son of Lolo Soetoro. That is the case even when the Soetoro's were claiming emotional hardship as Lolo was being sent back to Indonesia by himself. When Mrs. Soetoro made plans to move to Indonesia in October, 1967, according to the Immigration Service she had to apply for Indonesian visas for herself and her son "who will be required to accompany her.”
