My question is what is the risk? He won't cost much, and if he does not hit you can release him. Hinske has a career .296 OBP against lefties, he should not play against them.

His April ERA last year was 7.06. His April ERA this year was 5.48. He is actually pitching better, despite a worse record. Those who judge him based off of his 0-5 record are misinterpreting his effectiveness. He had a rough month, but far from a season ruining month.

He ended up with a 3.86 ERA last year, so I am confident that he will rebound in the summer months.
