I just laugh at these Sheriffs and conservatives that back them. All I hear in a national debate about guns is that the states should have the final say in if and how they want gun laws. Then when a state decides that they want to have laws that restrict certain things, then the state legislatures shouldn't decide what the locals should do.

And a Sheriff is there to enforce ALL laws, no matter what they personally think. Sheriff Cooke is no better than a religious nut that decides that he is going to follow the Bible instead of civil laws. They both are breaking the law and deciding that they know better than the public. Nice to know that we can have little dictatorships for Sheriffs all across the land.

I wish that Eric Holder wasn't Attorney General. But he is. A drone strike in the U.S. on American citizens should be unconstitutional, but it would be because of the conservative Supreme Court. It is the decisions of Scalia, Alito, Roberts, and Thomas that makes constitutional scholars believe that this could pass muster with the Supremes. So before you scream about Holder actually saying that if an American citizen was on the verge of causing a catastrophe and a drone strike would prevent it and that it would be constitutional, then look at the conservative crowd for the rationale in that argument.

I think that it is smart. Why waste your time when you know that one side is not ready to make concessions in negotiations.

A 9 point lead is pretty good for her. Although it looks like the race tightens for her during the last month of election season, historically. And her chief-of-staff and top fundraiser left in the middle of July. Looks like it could be interesting.

According to the Congressional Research Service:

A report released by the non-partisan Congressional Research Service yesterday on the community group ACORN finds no misuse of its federal funds over the past five years and no attempts at improper voting following its 2008 voter registration drive. The report raises questions about the Constitutionality of a government wide funding ban and states that two filmmakers likely broke the law when they conducted a widely publicized "sting" against the group.

"No instances were identified in which ACORN "violated the terms of federal funding in the last five years," a press release posted on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary website states. It also notes: "There were no instances of individuals who were allegedly registered to vote improperly by ACORN or its employees and who were reported attempting to vote at the polls."

So according to the federal government, ACORN followed federal law in terms of funding and voter registration. The GAO has published reports that ACORN followed the law in receiving funding from the federal government. If the government says that they cannot find an instance of law breaking, I'm not going to mope, complain, and run with the theory that the government is too dumb to find wrongdoing.

There is no way you can regulate what is fair. You want fair? Let's talk about Fox News. Are you seriously suggesting that they are fair to Liberals and Democrats? Look at the ACORN scandal. 3 different independent investigations have found that they did not break any laws. And the one regulation that they were out of compliance on was because their subcontractor didn't follow the guidelines. But have you heard that major news story on Fox News blaring for a week? No. How about the children in New Hampshire that sang a song that praised Barack Obama? Didn't hear Fox News saying that was 7 months old when they broke the story. And that none of the parents had any problems with the presentation. No, it was only when political hacks from the Republican Party heard the children singing about Barack Obama did they decide that this would be great political cannon fodder. Didn't hear Fox News say that the children in the school system have been doing that for decades. They sang in praise of Bush 41 and 43 and Bill Clinton. They slanted the news to make it appear that this school was trying to indoctrinate children to the Democratic Party.

You want the news to be fair and even-handed? Great. Start at Fox News. Investigate what their news people say and what they are reporting. Do the same at ABC News, CBS, NBC, CNN, the Drudge Report. Anyplace that you see "news" reported, you will always get a slant. Why? Because that is how it has become with the 24-7 News networks and the political games that everyone plays with information.
