Two Makes Four : Technical Difficulties

Get a copy of Backup Buddy (http://ithemes.com/purchase/backupbuddy/) and have it backup to Dropbox automatically. And then stop worrying. I agree - my blog is my baby book but I've seen so many hosting companies accidentally hose entire dbs that I'd take matters into my own hands :)

Two Makes Four : Standing Up for Herself

I've tried spanking. But I always try it when I'm really mad and Piper is REALLY mad. It has never, ever worked. All it's ever done is escalated our tension and our anger. I realized we all just need time to breathe. Sometimes that's difficult, and I have an especially difficult little lady in my life, but pain is not a motivator (or inhibitor) for me or for her - and I also don't feel good about it. We're all just learning how to handle our emotions - they're as new for us as they are for them - and finding our way, right? My recent post To Garmin or Not To Garmin?

The Design O'Blog : Do You Give Your Clients Source Files? Why or Why Not?

I actually specify in my T&C that all source files belong to the client upon final payment. I never, ever want a client to feel like they can't alter what I've created (every site/project is a collaboration, right? Designers seem to get really touchy about that, but please. If someone is paying us to create their dream, why shouldn't they have say in the outcome?). That said, I provide them upon request and have only been asked 3, maybe 4 times in 40+ client relationships over the years. But letting clients know UP FRONT that they own every piece of work you create on their dime seems to reassure them in the beginning and shows them that you value their dollar and voice, I think.

Congrats, lady. So happy for you and my eyes welled up quite a few times here. Am I the only one who can't get the OMG you f*d your husband while IN LABOR out of my head? That is truly impressive. Both of you.

Mike Van Winkle : Wordpress Theme Frameworks: Who needs 'em!

I'm a Thesis geek myself, but it definitely took some getting used to, especially since I know my way around WP like the back of my hand. But, now that I've put in my dues, it's a great place to start with really thoughtful design, SEO and customizability :)

Two Makes Four : The Tankini

My SIL got a super cute 50's inspired tankini from Target - so yeah. There are some goodies there now and then. That said, my hubs always tells me "You're a mom now. Embrace it." whenever I complain about my 'mom hair' or my mom bathing suits or driving a minivan (which is just around the corner). So that's nice.
