It goes both ways. Girls will have to submit resumes to date my sons.

I just found your blog a couple weeks ago and love it. This is more of a prayer request than a comment, but I figured that'd be okay. ;) I've had a number of setbacks the last few years, in all aspects of my life, and I'm to the point where I'm somewhere between doubting God's goodness and outright believing that He isn't good. Intellectually, I know that's not true, but my heart is having trouble believing. This is, understandably, affecting my relationship with him, and I'm not sure how to get back what I once had. Advice/prayers/etc. would be appreciated; feel free to delete this comment if it doesn't belong here.

May God continue to bless this blog!

I agree. Mother's Day always made me feel uncomfortable before I became a mother (the message I got was, "it doesn't matter what other amazing things you're accomplishing with your life, if you haven't reproduced, you don't matter," and now that I am one, Mother's Day sermons seem like an empty token gesture for the other 364 days (plus I always hurt for my friends who are struggling with infertility). I think acknowledging the holiday and moving on would be a fine idea.

I tend to view Proverbs 31 sermons the same way your mom does!

I totally agree with you. I have no problem with homeschooling; if someone's called to do it, great. But if not, that should be similarly respected, and most of the homeschoolers I know think Homeschooling Is The Only Way, And If You Don't Do It, You're A Sweaty Heathen.

If a person is called to, say, the ministry, or the mission field, it's because God has equipped them for such a calling. But a person who isn't called to be a pastor, frankly, shouldn't be one. Same thing goes for homeschooling. If you're called to it, do it. If you're not, then nobody should make you feel like less of a parent because of how God made you.

Maybe that's why so many churches add "E" to the end of their names.
