Hmmm, I think I was expecting too much, too quick. I will keep what you said in mind.
Alright. That is helpful for him. He has reverted back to being mine (along with every other horse. The little sister has decided that horses are no longer her thing *headdesk* I haven't worked with him in a loooong time, but I should have some time to finally work with everyone next week *happy dance*
He is very much 'on his forehead' and extremely dull. I get what you're saying and will try it next time I am out there!

Thank you ;). I just noticed it because he used to really twist through his poll. It was a very obvious difference!
I noticed that when I played with him today. He was definitely responding, but most of the time he would scratch or, as was the case when I would try to get him to drop his head, lower his head a tad and then walk to me for a scratch...
I tried it (I pretended as if I was releasing a rein) at liberty today and he actually bent around and flexed. I was like O.o. I'm in the process of writing up a post on today's session...I'll include how he did when I was asking for the head down :)

I tried the grass game and he started to ignore the grass. I also tried to time when I worked with him to be when he was winding down for the day and wasn't as concerned about eating :)
When Sonny goes into the lateral flexion and seems confused, he typically holds it for a looooooooong time. It's kinds of like he's looking back at me telling me to slow down and wait a minute. When he pops out he will give a big sigh and lick and chew. Also, when he holds it he doesn't blink at all...

The one thing you did not see in the footage was the cats and the pony's attempt to eat both me, and then when I wouldn't pay attention, the camera. Half the footage I had was of a pony nose and teeth :P
Back on the topic of the video, I see how I should have let him drop his head, and then picked it up a minute or two later. My hands were too 'hard'. Actually, that probably added to his tension and 'rooting'! I'm going to *try* to find somewhere without a bazillion distractions and no grass, but until I can find this place, how do you suggest I keep him focused in the environment he is in now? Currently the only other option I have is either in with the goats or out in knee high grass and baby cows :). Hopefully we will have a round pen up in a couple of weeks, but who knows? Any tips?
I keep listening to the clip, and I'm sure I will come up with more questions :). I will post them as they pop into my mind :)))

Ahhhhh, that helps a ton! Maybe I'll be able to get some video this weekend if it doesn't end up raining the whole time :))) What would you like some video of?
