When the whole world is insanely led by greed and perfidy, failure is assured. a few nations seem to have a handle on this: Norway, Sweden et al, Iceland, Costa Rica, The ABC's of S. America are struggling through it. Three women presidents there declaring debts to world bank done. The majority of the people know what is up. They just don't know what to do about it. Both parties the same in every democracy under world bank control. read Basel when i say world bank or IMF. The people know about nazi Ukraine. The eu's are not stupid. Putin has been cool. Obama's lackeys are Nazis! What better way for him to expose himself. Our CIA created ISIS to fight Assad, for some reason. then we let them raid Iraq for our excess military equipment. and they went rogue. nice control there. if we have to fight them now they will be able to fight back. brilliant. i'd also like to see the NAZIS expose themselves vs Russia. The military took over Egypt as if chosen. The Arab Spring was an advertising slogan. Bailout is not the right word for our financial system: government complicity is more like it. Escape from New York is a pizza in SF. But not a bad idea. Only do that and stay. We have to make a change. we have to vote Green en masse no matter how dumb they are--they are outliers. we all are outliers. nothing good will come from this system anymore. Our only loyalty should be to the Planet Mother Earth and her daughter Gaia. there is no higher cause. all reliogions are political and corrupt. all governments are in business for themselves as agents of the wealthy emirati and financial elites. the two major economic systems have become religions...and thus, both venal and corrupt. to be true to nature is the only good left. all goods come from nature and our hard work. nothing may be stolen. so we have to rise up. speak shout. act out, act up. do not fear the present contest because the future will be worse if we lose. write the reps, the officials. expose them and mock them. shut off your TV. Read, write, study. Make love to GAia through all women. empower your daughters. get off the web, disconnect, sell your car, use wifi at the local cafe. talk to people. say what you feel. do not be shy. this is going to be dangerous. don't worry. we must march in mass for many days. Obama will declare martial law. the army will be aligned against us in the form of militarized police. we will have to stay calm and persevere. this will be a marathon not a sprint. they will know we are coming. they will be ready. keep talking. we can march through the streets any time we want. place messages on the walls of the cities. leave them everywhere. mostly, be free. insist upon it. get out of the dollar, the yuan, the EU, the yen, and the pound. give to caesar and take the rest. if we take the cities they will have to starve us their own citizens. maybe they'll spray us with agent orange, or anthrax, or ebola...we will not die. we will nver ever die. the Cull is of them the, 1%, not us.

I would count myself as someone who left and now live permanently elsewhere. My wife and I retied 5 years ago and moved to Ecuador. So to sum it up there are three types of Americans. First the vast majority who dont have a clue as to what is going on. Second a few who post here who probably still live in the US but realize what is going on. Third an even smaller percentage who have left and maintain permanent residency elsewhere. The only unknown is this equation which has no historical context is whether the collapse of the US will bring down the rest of the civilized world.

Should have mentioned the Brit empire. It was quite something as it not only materially plundered extensively but also left deep psychological scars among the inhabitants of its colonies. Indeed the international language, English, is a legacy of that. America once in revolt of that empire has ironically now taken on its mantel. Humans never seem to learn.

An interesting article, hwr, I question whether the issue of "over taxation" is applicable to the U.S. The effective tax rate for corporations is about 12% and many corporations (GE for example) pay not taxes or have a negative tax rate. Also, many corporations park their internation profits overseas and are not taxed on it or through devious loopholes like transferring their patent ownership to overseas subsidiaries in tax free locations (Ireland, Belgium) transfer their profits to those tax free locations. So instead of being overtaxed, the real problem is the corporations are under taxed, the 1% can afford to take advantage of tax loopholes to pay lower taxes than most of the rest of the population and we are turning into a plutocratic society that has a weak tax base. We have financialized the economy where 40% of all profits go to the financial industry that is no longer the "grease of wheels of industry" but rather have turned into a large casino providing little value to society. Of course the imperial ambitions with thousands of international military bases and constant unfunded wars will bankrupt the country in the not too distant future.

As the last days of Planet Earth go by I guess many folk must be fearful and confused. They, like me, were told humans were intelligent. Looking at the state of the world there is little sign of intelligence. War, killing and plundering are ever-present much as they have always been. Now the Titans are preparing to do battle. The world's biggest killer nation, the U.S., is preparing to take on Russia so that it can then take on China. It does this, not for the benefit of the world but to gain dominion over all. Of course, americans, as a people, are deranged. They claim they are exceptional and they are. Exceptionally stupid. They can't beat Russia or China but still they'll try. The U.S. killed all its Indigenous Natives then tried to enslave people from Africa. It now wants to enslave the world. Does being an american slave appeal to you? Excuse me speaking frankly Jeff but I think you would enjoy perusing Toynbee's “Study of History” for a magisterial survey of former empires since history began. As regards America and the Anglosphere, I believe it was firstly the near monopoly on finance that started the serious damage, wse did not have to compete as we controlled the playing field. Then secondarily arose the political belief that America was better than the other countries, probably based on attracting all the world's best scientists with higher salaries which gave USA the foundation for better technology in warfare. And thirdly the collapse of the USSR, which the neo-cons took for their finest triumph, but was in fact the death knell of American leadership by the removal of ideological competition and the exposure of 100+ third-world governments to lucidly clear experience of US commercial diplomacy.
