Why is Mahathir arguing against hudud since he is so clean? After all, only those who committed crime in Islam need to fear hudud. Allah is greater than Syariah and Jakim put together. He knows our heart and will be our ultimate Judge of who has committed a crime, even corruption! So to those who have committed secret sins, be afraid, be very afraid.

If EC has been transparent, clean and fair, Bersih would never have taken off. If EC has been transparent, clean and fair, PR would not have a case to complain. But the whole charade is played out GE after GE, and today we have a "47% Gomen". Is it any wonder the majority of the people are frustrated and angry with our so called "world's best" democracy?

Supporting hudud islike an extremist chant to have something which is part of islam and because some chaotic nation is having it and they are putting up a show of extreme/archaic punishment of stoning to death and cutting off legs and hands. What about other parts of the body that has done wrong like making eunuch of rapist. What about the brain doing wrong then? A show of extreme punishment cannot be accepted anymore in this modern society. This can be part of the supremacist upbringing.

I was born long before Malaya, and then Malaysia, achieved independence, and I say that Malaysia administered by UMNO is not a practicing democracy! The democratic process has been abused by UMNO to gerrymander electoral boundaries to keep itself in power. All Mahathir has done is to insult the intelligence of those born after independence!

Actually Dr. Mahathir is worried that there will be a lot of handicapped malays muslims in Malaysia and the Government will have to give all the contracts and jobs to non-muslims because the non-muslims have hands and legs.

First and foremost, If you listen to Najib's and TDM's statement that Malaysia is not ready for Hudud yet,The Federal govt ( which consists of Non Muslim's too mind you) said that they have never reject. Hudud, is again so political and designed to win the Malay votes from PAS. When will we ever concentrate on truly governing Malaysia, becoming a developed nation and really treat all Malaysians as equals ? Honestly for Non Muslims, we are just increasingly being oppressed, threatened and been made the pawns in this power struggle. I really fear for the future of non Muslims in this country. Enough is enough, we non muslims must not bow down to all these threats and oppression. GOD will help us but we must help ourselves and fight for our rights.

Perhaps it's because there's no space for dissent and civil society to express their opposition to the draconian laws that the ruling [which incidentally doesn't understand justice as well] imposes while corruptly enriching itself and its benefactors with contracts that guarantee profits!

About once a year, I actually agree with Uncle, and this is one of those rare occasions. He is correct in saying this: "He said this was because the party which intended to implement hudud, the Islamic penal code, was not prioritising justice which was emphasised in Islam but doing it their own way." The fact is that some of the suggested punishments, such as death for apostasy, are based on incorrect readings of the Quran. Dr M is also correct in saying that most advocates of hudud are far too obsessed with form rather than substance. People will respect and trust the EC only after it becomes independent and free> It is presently under the Prime Minister who is a politician like other politicians. Who could anyone trust the EC when the PM is the overall boss. The EC should be placed under the purview of Parliament and then we can see trust and confidence building up. So Dr. Mahathir is wrong in accusing that the young people are influenced by the West. What Malaysians want is FREE, CLEAN and FAIR elections. Is it too much to ask?
