I use google but NOT gmail, no facebook and am lucky to have firefox/mozilla and other freeware and can avoid all the micromush.

Pretty damn vague. We're screwed on way or the other. Any (r) evolution WILL NOT COME OR SUCCEED as a result of any web activity. Seems nothing is 100%. As my friend said, TOR may be the closest. Very slow, tho.

Tom, it's not my place to tell you how to run things. For all I know, many of your readers could enjoy cross-posting here and to twitter or facebook. My beef with both of them is more ethical or cultural. Both are guilty of increasing narcissism to an ugly new height. Both are stalking programs to mine data, but present themselves as social media. While they are social media, they are created as that type of setting mainly to mine data for resale. Facebook is particularly bad on that score. I don't use either one because of their general insecurity/lack of privacy, and because both are profit vehicles for people whose ethics make me nauseous. But I don't have the right to tell you or anyone else that they must agree with me.

I have disabled twitter and facebook (I hope correctly?) and would appreciate any other input / advice you can provide regarding how I might help protect ICH readers from data mining companies and those who would abuse our privacy. Using the NoScript add-on in Firefox will let you see what sub-pages are accessing a primary page. You can turn off access for each sub-access source.

Technically speaking, gmail is secure. It is encrypted. Problem is, encryption, not unlike locks, only keeps honest people honest. Hushmail will turnover your information if requested to by the authorities. Read the fine print. It's in there.

No difference using a proxy or whatever, because everything goes through ISPs and the network. It's like driving from place A to place B on the highway. They know you went to B not because someone at B told them so, but because you used THEIR highway and it has cams everywhere.

It means that every time you view a page on ICH the details of your visit are sent to all of those companies. Go to this site and enter the ICH url and you can see how many different companies are made aware each time you load a page here: www.webpagetest.org/ There are 29 different requests to around a dozen different companies every time you simply view the ICH homepage. All of those companies store the data each time you visit, and they are all building up profiles on you. I use the squid/squirm combination to intercept these requests and redirect them to my own webserver, so when I visit ICH only ICH and myself know about it.

So don't use any of those services. Every now and then enter your own name in a search engine. If nothing comes up you are doing it right. Also the goal is total control of the internet and data on everyone in the world. Luckily the world is a bunch of feminized pussies so they won't do anything about it.

I find it highly ironic that twitter and facebook are enabled by this site (ICH) when it is clear that the main purpose of twitter and facebook is data-mining, not social sharing of personal trivia.

Why should we believe that Mr Estep is trying to help us? He could be a contractor for NSA, or a person who is invested in any of the software products he's urging. The solution isn't to accept it laying down, and use different software. How dumb does Mr Estep think we are? NSA people know of the "tricks" that Estep shares here.
