We are daily drowned by a tide of comments about UKIP from UKIPpers on this website. We know what they are like and we know what they believe. A series of articles giving them added publicity is the last straw. This website is a disgrace to the party that it claims to represent.

To that end if their plans are more inline with what the population want I don't think there's much to be scared of there. I enjoyed that article, but the burning issue this morning is getting to know who's calling the activists 'mad swivel-eyed loons' not getting to know UKIP!

In any poll asking who is/was the greatest traitor the party has ever had, where before the odious Heath would have won by a mile, now I think Dave might take the prize! If only the party had voted for the perfectly sound David Davis instead of the far left charlatan Dave.

Protesting if that is what you wish to call it, for 40 years has given many of us the tough persona of experienced troops, and the confidence to know our opponents are the political equivalent of the Italian army, lots of pretty uniforms, loves a shiny parade, but no guts to fight, and little belief in the causes they support, personal self interest being their Achilles heel. Throughout the wilderness years we have struggled to keep alive the flame of independence, self determination. and the right to be proud of our country its achievements and its culture.. Maastricht for many of us was the ultimate betrayal, and something that can never be forgiven, Maastricht did however catalyse the movement and gave it direction. If you are ambivalent about our future as an independent country, and have no problem in advancing the interests of others above our own citizens, then you are our enemy, and i use that word deliberately. You have had your chance to change, you have had years to listen, yet you chose to ridicule and ignore us . I don't know the future for UKIP as a party, but I do know that the cause will go on, we have re-ignited the flame of self confidence and patriotism in our country, and it is now to bright too extinguish. I don't actually care what your party does, or the Lib/Lab either, for you are all creatures of the same debased politics. You will hang on for now as FPTP protects you, but the future is coming, and does not consist of the politics of pragmatic surrender. We want our country back, and we intend to get it either with your belated support, or we will destroy you to achieve it.

At the moment, the Conservative Party's conduct is akin to a bad marriage: both sides know it is goes to end in divorce and the continuous bickering is making both sides miserable. I struggle to see how traditional Conservatives can stay in when the direction is determined by those with a metropolitan political establishment view of the world. My local village branch did its best (successfully) to elect our Kent County Council candidate. However, since then just about everyone to whom I have spoken (members and general public) said they voted UKIp and recent events have only underlined their determination. This all has to end at some point. At this rate, in tears.

Fausty

Brilliant article. My take is that UKIPers are passionate about justice, common sense and self-determination. Justice does not exist in this country. The thousands of criminal offenses, the complicated law, the high cost of legal representation means that "justice" is done at the government's whim. Secret courts and juryless trials, the EAW and US extradition treaties nullify habeas corpus. That is not justice. Common sense derives from the considered, rational opinions of intelligent, informed, compassionate people - not from the hydra of automated systems of penalties, rules and regulations, which regularise the sanity out of decision-making. Self-determination is about the freedom to achieve on a level playing field, and the freedom to fail - provided that one does not harm others. That's where a good justice system comes in. But UKIPers are also about integrity. We value people with courage, conviction and honesty. We value people who are genuinely compassionate and who cannot be bought. Try finding those values in any of the three "main" parties.

I don't know what the answer to UKIP is for the other parties, you don't have our trust and trust takes a long time to build. Promises of a referendum from a guy we think is an habitual lair certainly won't win us over, the problem isn't just Cameron either, it's an entire political class that have done nothing but tell lies and abuse the electorate for decades.

One day there will be an in-out EU referendum – that is inevitable. And just as the AV referendum result has put a dent into voting reform for the foreseeable future, so a vote to stay in the EU may harm UKIP’s ambitions. How can they argue on the doorstep we need to leave the EU if the topic has been nationally discussed and voted on? Equally if people chose to leave the EU – then UKIP will have won the argument – and many may think there is no longer any point in voting for them. Nigel Farage was once asked what he would do should a referendum vote to stay in, and he said that he would quit politics and ‘get a proper job’. Other UKIP members may have to say the same. After a referendum, whatever the result, UKIP poll ratings would fall. For these reasons it would be in the interests of the Conservative party to have a referendum as soon as possible – and campaign to stay in.
