I read earlier today that Oregon has just now captured the required number of signatures to place the full (re)legalization of marijuana on the November ballot. With Washington and Colorado already having this issue up for vote, this make three states noe with polls looking positive. Although this issue has failed in both Alaska and in California in previous years, I would not be surprised to see it pass this time in all three states. It is a pleasure to comtemplate the federal government's panic and chagrin at even one victory. The reason for my optimism is not that I see the government's war on drugs as weakening, not at all, but because I see people getting fed up with being offered no choice at all in the presidential contest or in the global war on terror. We have only a choice of war mongers. But now comes a chance to vote our anger and to strike at the feds where it hurts. I think that a lot of people are feeling this way and they will vote to end the drug war with conviction and a determination to strike back at their tyrannical controllers.
