A very good article but a few minor points about BC/AD and BCE/CE is in order. The first is a point most people tend to quickly forget, A.D. is a prefix to a year. BC, BCE and CE are all postfixes to the year; (In the Year of our Lord Twenty Thousand and Eleven). Ironically CE actually can be traced back to as early as the 6th century (Era Vulgaris) and was can be found as early as 1708 in English. It was commonly used by Jewish historians by the mid 19th century. Of course it’s an interesting moot point anyway. Apparently Roman Math is really that hard and the ancient scholars (according to the modern ones) had the Birth of Jesus off by several years so he would have been around 3 years old at A.D. 1.

The holiday celebrated on December 25 could be named anything and it would not change many of the traditions that we observe. That's because Christmas is nothing but a mid-winter celebration. If Christ existed, according to the Bible, he would not have been born in the winter (shephards didn't keep their sheep outside in the winter). Christians just took over an already existing celebration and made it Christmas because people were reluctant to give it up. Christians did the same thing with Easter, which was a celebration of spring. So it is really funny when I hear Christians telling me how I MUST celebrate Christmas. For me, the word Christmas is just another way of saying mid-winter celebration. Perhaps the solution is to call it something else.

Welcome to our world of haters. They just cant stand to see someone embrace something they dont like. Such pathetic people are to be ignored, they can only hurt themselves. The Constitution gets blamed for many things, and one of the biggest is the idea that it is against religion, Christians or what ever they choose to call the stupidity they bring daily. Our Constitution Clearly denies our Government from establishing a religion that all MUST accept, as was the case in England where greedy men in the name of religion wielded power over the citizens like tyrants. Our founders made sure that could not happen here. They did however make sure the Government would not, could not interfere with the religions of the citizens. The anti Religion folks you know, the haters in this country have tried forever to make that phrase in our Constitution say something different. It dont, and our Government aids them, our courts aid them, and its time the same people, the courts get it right and tell these kooks to get lost, or move out if they dont like our religious freedoms. Look what they have done to the free speech clause. Man the filth the courts deem guaranteed by this is atrocious. But then its the same kooks who demand no Religious signs or practice on public grounds, who will stand on the same grounds and say the most filthy things, depict the most filthy things, all in the name of their precious speech freedoms. How stupid silly is that?

When people see someone who talks the talk and walks the walk, it brings an inner conviction upon them. Those who don’t talk the talk and walk the walk are frightened by that conviction. Mostly liberals. They don’t like exhortation, even when it comes from within themselves. They want to be told that they are ok, that whatever they are doing is ok, and that everything is ok. In the meantime, their gut (their inner man / spirit / conscience) tells them that everything is not ok. Rather than be mature and adult about it and face reality and make a conscious decision to make a change in themselves, they prefer to stick their head in the sand, cower and ignore the issue. They don’t like that inner conviction, and that’s why they object so much to any person, phrase, words, symbols, holiday or openly displayed morals that demonstrates such that would cause that feeling of inner conviction which they hate to come upon them. They detest it. It makes them feel uncomfortable. Let me warn you, Hell is going to be a lot more uncomfortable than dealing with the problem in the here and now. ——- Sin, sickness and disease came into the world because Adam bowed his knee to Satan. By one man’s sin, death passed to all men. All men (human kind) were born after Adam with a sin nature (the debt of Adam’s sin upon their souls). No man could pay this debt himself. Jesus, a man with no sin (because he was not born of human man seed, but divinely), allowed himself to be sacrificed for all men’s sins. He who knew no sin took our sins upon himself. He was a perfectly sin-free sacrifice. Only a perfectly sin-free sacrifice could go into that pawn shop and redeem all of mankind. The trade had to be one of magnificent value, clean and pure being traded for countless other ones that were filthy and dirty with sin. All of these added together could not equal the value of the one. But since God was so generous in love and mercy, he allowed his Son to be traded for all others so He could bring them back into the family. Jesus did it for you and for me. No one else could do it. You could not do it of yourself, no matter how good of a person you were in life. Only Jesus could do it. He was successful. All one has to do to receive what He did and join the rest of the family is to BELIEVE. Say “Thank You Jesus, I Believe” and join the rest of us in God’s Family! God made it just that easy.

Kind of takes the steam out of the anti-Christers, when they say Happy Holidays and it refers to the Holy Days.

I say if people are offended by the word and traditions of Christmas- don't participate- don't take time off from work or school, don't exchange gifts or do decorations. But leave those alone who wish to celebrate. If people can walk around with birkas on their head, I'm gonna wear my cross and participate in my Christmas and Christian traditions.

Don't necessarily think that religion is a problem for these folks but more so Jesus Christ. See religion can be whatever you want it to be but a relationship with God is another story. Could be one of the reasons for the separation clause, NOT to eliminate Jesus but ensure the States' church (religion) didn't become the law of the land to control people. THE reason we left to establish America. We need to start agreeing with these people that religion is bad but Christianity has nothing to do with religion. Christianity IS NOT a religion! That's why it's okay for everything else under the sun EXCEPT Christianity.

Notice that the First Amendment to Our Constitution says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF. Whenever any person or group is denied the disp;lay of a reliigiious icon, material, etc., they should file suit againsst the group or individual that p;revented free exercise of their religion. It is a constitutional right, and if Congress can not deny the free exercise of one's religious beliefs, then I fail to see where anyone else has tht authority.
