politicalpundits.co.uk : Gay Blood Ban; Homophobia or Common Sense?

In what way do the statistics show only one part of the story? The argument given by the medical profession about refusing blood donation by male homosexuals is 'greater risk of carrying HIV' The statistics presented show that this is the case.

politicalpundits.co.uk : Why As A Student, I Have Little Sympathy For Unemployed Graduates

so when you're walking down a street at night you see a group of youngsters wearing hoodies, do you cross the road or think well not 100% of teenagers with hoodies are trouble makers and hence so it would be pandering to a negative stereotype?

Larissa are you the kind of person to label statements as "black people tend to have darker skin" as being a stereotype? How many students do you see in the library on a Friday night compared to in a local nightclub? Do you expect every generalisation ever to be banned under the guise of 'pandering to stereotypes'?

@Larissa "I think personally there is a flaw in the way university is treated when itt comes to applying in college as my college at least encourage degrees for all as the best method of obtaining a job regardless of what you studied, in fact encouraging studying something you enjoyed if you were to stand any hope of completing any degree; sound advice in my opinion." which is exactly my point, it's a shame you yourself couldn't see past the 'tory boy' stereotype and assumed me to be intellectually arrogant..

@larissa "You are also arrogantly, as some in the Conservative party were beginning to do before the election, dividing degrees into the worthy and not based purely on your own opinion (I doubt many would rate PR and advertising as a worthy or useful area but that should have no bearing on your choice) and most importantly missing the skills of different individuals by insulting those that do not fit into very specific areas of expertise." I am not saying any degree is worth anything more than any others, I did not say that at all. What I did say was that plenty of degrees do nothing for getting a job. If you want to study Political Science of Luxembourg that's your game, but don't whinge when you struggle to get a job. It's funny that you accuse me of the same arrogance of those in the Tories when my point is actually the polar opposite to theirs; they practically drool at textbook pretentious subjects and scoff at other subjects. To quote one twatty young Tory who said to me "you're just doing a mickey mouse degree". He was someone doing a politics degree. Mickey mouse or not, I'll have a job at the end of my degree, chances are, he'll be doing a job that a degree isn't required for. So to summarise; I am not saying any course is worth than any others, merely pointing out that some courses are more likely to lead to employment whilst others aren't.

good point you make there Gaz that multiculturalism has become anti-English multiculturalism. I also think in some places it has become multi-colonialism. When you come to another country, set up your own communities and refuse to be a part of that country it is simply called colonialism.

The Conservative Blog : The True Nature of the English Defence League

I agree that they are fighting an enemy that is hugely exaggerated BUT there is certainly an underlying attitude within some Muslim communities. The thing that surprised me most about the EDL was that they had non-white members including Muslims and Sikhs. I do think most of the EDL members are not racist, but like with Muslims, it's the loud mouthed small minority that spoil it for everyone else.
