Pithy, yet obscurely vague...
Are you sure you didn't get that shot at your Congressman's office? Sounds like their M.O.!
I attended Private school more than 30 years ago (!) before the collectivist progressive ideas begn encroaching on the teaching of critical thinking. Since then, I have been educated by many conservative, liberal, statist and libertarian professors, instructors and ordinary citizens.
I and many others believe that most of the Elite career politicians we have in office have strayed far from the ideas and ideals espoused in the Constitution, the Federalist Papers and elsewhere by the Founders. Of course, the Senators were originally unelected, and were appointed by the State Legislatures. which was changed by the 17th Amendment in 1912 (and rightly so). Unfortunately, there is so much that goes on in Washington that is not in the Constitution (or directly violates it!) that the sleeping masses of this country are finally waking up (though not all).
A good book for every American to read about the way this country is being led down the garden path is 'The Black Book of Communism'. Taken from the formerly secret archives of the USSR and other former socialist 'Workers' Paradises. It outlines the tactics that the socialists used to take power, and many are eerily similar to those used by the progressive statists in America today!
I think we're on the same side here! I am explaining the way things are SUPPOSED to work under the Constitution- not the way the system is currently being gamed by the career politicians, their money men and the elites. That's why I am participating in the Tea Party Movement, and have been acting as a precinct delegate in the past few elections. You are correct in implying that the only way to change the system is through the grassroots. Her in my county (one of the most populous in our state), we just voted in a County Charter, that cuts the bloated Comission by half, strips it of the most corruptible powers and institutes a COunty Executive. This grassroots effort is a direct result of the Tea Party movement, and has instituted a more responsive local (county) government. Next we are targeting state and federal elected officials of both parties who don't carry out the wishes of the voters. We are bypassing the top-down party elite and are changing things by replacing them with citizen-politicians.
Are you implying that Pol Pot = Obama???
Now I have to report YOU to whitehouse.gov as a subversive!!!!
Absolutely! That is why the AGW movement more resembles a RELIGION than REAL Science! And they have indoctrinated the youth in the US for over thirty years to 'Trust the Government' and the slime oozing out of the TV set, rather than having citizens utiliize their critical thinking skills in order to recognize when the Emperor has no clothes...
As per my PRIVATE school civics class, Senators (and Representatives) do not JUST represent their own state, they are also elected as UNITED STATES Senators to represent the best interests of the entire nation.
Doing what seems to be best for his own state residents in the short term merely does a dis-service to the country's interests in the short and long--term, and undermines his own state's citizens interests in the long term, as allowing foreign multinational corporations to utilize a divide-and-conquer strategy to extort state and local concessions to provide jobs just means that those jobs will leave when the carpet-bagging corporations find another state (or country) willing to undercut them. This is Capitalism at it's worst- using the government to subsidize businesses in the short term, thus abrogating the principles of free-market economics.
While I am happy that the tide of progressive stooges put forth by Obama can be stemmed momentarily, it is hard to laud Sen. Shelby, who hypocritically defends the foreign businesses (Japanese Automakers, European Aerospace) in his own state, while trashing the American manufacturers in other states. His actions are not based on idealism or even moral principles, but on pragmatic political considerations. If the EADS were located in another state, Shelby would be leading the charge to deny them contracts. But since their presence means campaign cash and lower-paying jobs for HIS constituents, then he's suddenly all for them! This parochialist politicization of the Government Contracting progress highlights what's wrong on BOTH sides of this argument!
You can't argue with Chicken Little when he has a multi-Trillion-Dollar plan to seize your earnings and assets! Who cares about little things like the truth, facts and common sense? After all, 'The Ends Justify The Means!'. It makes no sense arguing with these fanatical sociopathic statist neo-pagans, since they refuse to acknowledge that the facts and truth mean nothing to them- only the end results of their neo-feudalist plans to turn us all into government serfs.
"What Did I Learn? That the government is arbitrary and capricious in it's enforcement of rules and laws. That the school system is more interested in maintaining power and control (and Funding) than it is in educating children. That there is no sense of proportion in either the enforcement or the treatment of crime and criminals. That Common sense loses out every time to obedience to arbitrary authority. That more people will automatically follow the letter of the law, rather than try to discern the intent or even the fair application of said law. That some teachers, administrators and law enforcement officers need to be trained in common sense.
That is what I learned. Now can I take off this ankle bracelet and be allowed to return to my education?
