That was disgusting to watch! A US Congressman couldn't even debate a freakin' student! And it didn't even need to be a debate - there was a question asked and the student just wanted an answer. He sounded like any other politician - avoid the question, ramble some BS, and then say the student is attacking him. I would pick anyone who made a comment on this page over this guy to be in congress.

Energy independence is a myth! The frenzy over becoming green is just a way for the government to put more money in certain peoples' pockets so they can in turn contribute to campaign funds. Obama doesn't have a clue - changing lightbulbs is not going to save the whole damn world! Wake up America - this is another time when politicians are underestimating our intelligence. They say all these feel-good things about saving the Earth, and they think that we will never bother to look at the scientific facts so we cannot challenge them. Here's a fact - even if every gallon of car fuel was replaced by some other source, we would still be importing oil because it is used for so many other things.
I encourage everyone to read Gusher of Lies - it is a very well researched book about energy independence, and it really puts everything in perspective.

Thanks for the info on HR450. I immediately checked into the bill and wrote the following to my Congressman:

As one of your constituents, I am writing in order to express my support for the Enumerated Powers Act that was introduced to Congress in March of 2007. I can't understand why this bill was never put to a vote. As laws become more and more complicated, it is only right that the average person should be able to understand how the new laws tie into our constitution. Only government officials who wish to abuse their power by passing unconstitutional laws would not want this bill passed. If the representatives claim that this is not important enough to waste time on, they are dead wrong. This bill is what the American people are begging for – more accountability and explanations from government officials.

The federal government believes that they can dupe Americans simply by using more pleasant terms for things. I am sick of being underestimated by D. C. politicians! They think if they throw some new words out that no one will see what they are really talking about. Well as long as we are subing words, from now on I will call the President the Dictator of the United States.
