Can confirm that. Actual SHSH can be saved even on "stuck" phones using TinyUmbrella.

Phonebook SIM. Sherif_hasim's idea to activate your iPhone using the above sounds great. But where to get one? In Germany? Online? Sadly enough there is no Radio Shack here. Any ideas would be appreciated. THX

No, it does not. Just be sure to use tinyUmbrella and then wait for the devteam solution. That is, if u are on 4.01. If not, stay where u are and save your shsh blobs

phonebook sim? Does anyone know where I can get a phonebook sim? Preferably in Germany? I tried all sorts of mobile shops here, they use a different method here now: a small unit with dual sim slots to copy from mobile to mobile. As Sherif_hasim said, it must be a phonebook sim... Please, any tips, also online, will be greatly appreciated.

thanks mate. Posted the link to iClarified just now. Think it should be added to the tutorials. Hopefully this will all soon be unnecessary.

A question for all of those stuck on the emergency screen: What is the likelyhood of the upcoming JB and UL circumnavigating the necessity to insert an "original" sim-card?

Install TinyUmbrella. The SW will give you the Model Number. Someone here will then tell you the country. To answer the 2nd Part of your Q.: maybe. Better you find yourself the sherif_hasim Solution (see iClarified) with the Phonebook Sim. If you can get one..... Save your SHSH while you are at it.

I'm not Livy but I can confirm that tinyUmbrella works, even with the phone stuck on the emergency screen (which is the sad case on one of our iPhones). It recognizes all required data to save the actual SHSH.

Right, it's worth a try of course. BTW: We have different iTunes versions here. Obviously Apple does not accept any iPhones with iOS 4 unless we are on the latest iTunes 9.2. On the Mac Book Pro I have 9.0.x and get the incompatibility message. Bummer.

Had that problem on the Apple Airport Extreme N-Network as well. Tried a reset of everything. What worked for me: Turn the iphone to airplane mode. Turn it off (coldstart) and on again. Turn airplane mode back on and voil'a. Good luck!

Hey Livy, keep on bringing this "to the top" ;-) Your idea is good and should just be implemented. Best a donation to some sort of international cause, as this blog is quite international....

PHONECARD SIM Thought I would try this with it's own Header. In a number of posts there's talk about sherif_hasim's found solution with activation using the so called phonecard sim. Now, many readers here are not lucky enough to live in the USA and are not able to go to i.e. Radio Shack. Like others, I've spent quite some time googling and searching on eBay. Perhaps the thing is called differently in other countries (of course there's also the translation problem) Before Apple closes this opportunity I would like to ask the admins whether it would make sense to open up a new thread just regarding the phonecard sim, or whatever they may be called. Would a so called "Test SIM" do it as well? Who knows? In my opinion many users stuck on the emergency screen would be helped with a detailed solution here. Even with an AT&T Phone and corresponding SIM Card the activation does not work when not in the US. So it seems from reading all the posts on this and other blogs..... So, dear admins: any ideas, recommendations? THX in advance
