John, I'm not a parent, I barely have the mothering instinct, but FFS, even I know that beating the tar out of a cub is wrong, wrong, WRONG! Love comes from LOVE, not from fear and pain. Sacrifice is negotiable, as all relationships require sacrifice and compromise to a degree.

I hope someone called CPS on that cub's "mother" -- poor thing deserves so much better!

Cubs thrive on unconditional love, with sensible limits imposed in a rational manner. Sometimes a cub needs to learn the hard way (e.g. touching a hot stove and getting burned). Mostly, though, gentle guidance and loving support are all they need to navigate cub-hood.

I do believe that is called irony.

It just shows what the true goal of Christianity is -- the fact that they *fear* atheists "taking over", "indoctrinating children at an early age", etc, reflects *their* goal of doing just that!
