None of the links work for me, Mom, but it's not important. I am a retired Army soldier so I know very well how the military in general feels about the kind of unleader Obama is. The problem with the next great generation you cite is that they (military) are such a tiny portion of the total population and they have very little say in what happens at the polls. More importantly, a lot of the senior officers are very often just as wishywashy on liberty and conservatism as most democrats.......just look at Colin Powell for example. We truly have the most outstanding military in the world but they are not usually a deciding factor in politics. It might have helped if the draft have never been done away, at least then we'd have a country full of men who learned what the cost of freedom is and how precious is the need to protect it even from our own homegrown marxists like Obama.

I do not know if the source of this quote is legitimate or not but the truth of it cannot be denied. I recall the election of Bill Clinton and could never have imagined this country could vote for someone with so much scandal surrounding him. By the time he had been in office 3 years and we were looking toward the next election I just knew beyond a doubt the American people could not possibly reelect him after even more scandal surfaced. I was wrong of course. Now we face the same possibility with Obama and it is too scary to contemplate. For all our sakes we better hope and pray we can at least get a majority in the Senate and hold the House. It's already questionable whether or not the damage Obama has done can ever be undone, 4 more years will likely seal our fate as a new socialist state. I could list several things I don't like about all the Republican candidates righht now but the one thing I love about them all is that they all love America for the freedom and greatness she once had. Obama must be defeated, hopefully along with his sycophants in the House and Senate also.

All you idealists who won't vote for Romney or won't vote for Newt just need to go back to sleep and leave politics to the adults. Anyone who claims to be conservative or even libertarian for that matter who thinks that refusing to vote if your guy isn't on the ballot is an idiot. It doesn't matter if you have to hold your nose while you pull the lever, tap the screen, punch the card, etc., every voter with any brains at all understands we cannot allow 4 more years of Obama. It's just so totally childish to have the attitude that you'll take your marbles and go home if your candidate isn't on the ballot. Grow up and get a clue! It's more important than ever before not just to overturn and reverse the policies of a sitting president but also to have control of the appointments to the Supreme Court. If you're too ignorant, selfish, childish, vain or just plain stupid to understand this then you deserve whatever havoc Obama shoves down your throat next.

Maybe Karen Lewis is great at her job? I wouldn't know since I'm not a member of the CTU. She is a complete nutcase though but maybe that's what it takes to be president iof a teacher's union in Chicago?

They are paid with taxpayer $'s so when you think about it every public sector union is an adversary of the public. They want as much as they can get and we want their services as cheap as possible. So whether it's the city council at the local level or the Office of Management and Budget at the state level, your representatives are the ones who sit down and fight it out with the union. Whatever concessions or wage/benefit increases the unions win come directly out of your pocket in the taxes you pay.

My point is not that Karen Lewis should be excused for her bad behavior, just that she shouldn't be held accountable for doing anything for the kids since it's not in the charter of her organization to do so. The real point is that ALL unions are self-absorbed agencies that operate SOLELY for the benefit of their members and not the people they supposedly serve. In the private sector a union bargains with an employer for benefits for the employees. In that case there is an adversarial relationship between the union and the company. The union wants as much as it can get and the company wants to pay as little as possible. But who is the adversary in the public unions? You, me, her, him, EVERYBODY who is not a member of the public sector union is their adversary. When a public sector union bargains for higher wages or better benefits they are actually coming after YOUR money. .............

Notice that nowhere in the list is anything about educating the kids or being an example to them. The purpose of the teachers union is for the benefit of the teachers only and not ever the students. Yes, I know, it does say they "protect and improve the services of the public schools as a social agency for developing the capacities of the young and promoting adult education" but that has nothing to do with education. Instead it's about using the public school system as an agent of social change.

You all have the wrong idea here picking on poor Karen Lewis. All these comments about educating the kids and being an example to them are totally irrelevent. It shouldn't be that way but it is. The following is a copy/paste from the Chicago Teachers Union Articles and By-Laws: ....................

You picked the wrong president for your "art". FDR had leanings towards socialism himself and certainly exemplified an elitist attitude toward the masses. The NEA would run you out of town for mocking FDR. If you really want their attention and money you have to choose a founder, Coolidge, Eisenhour, Reagan or a Bush.
