You people are rediculous. If the President of the United States of America wants to shake somebody's hand g++dammit he will!!!! Bush was too chicken to face his opponents.
A good leader leads by engaging not disengaging, you can't solve aproblem by ignoring it and South America will be a problem if we don't engage them now and win them back from estern Europe with friendship and diplomacy.

The other mistake he made was lying straight faced to the mayor of New Orleans over a video conference where he pledged as much federal help as would be needed.

Quite the opposite, I and my "liberal friends" signed and circulated petitions in the months before 9/11 to call international attention to and impose sanctions upon the Taliban government in Afghanistan for their human rights abuses. Had there been an investigation Bush may have turned up some valuable intelligence (which we would have ignored). Too little too late? Maybe, but it was better than nothing and certainly more than any of you who may have been caught by "surprise".

I don't see how the current administration's total lack of competence in relation to the pirate issue is any differant than the previous administration's total lack of competence in relation to Al Queada before 9/11.
Oh wait yes I do, Bush was presented with a clear and detailed warning months in advance!!!!!
