i may not be totally qualified to hold a meaningful formal debate about the truths in the bible. i doubt i will change your mind.
i guess there are a few moral codes that i feel are innate and infallible, but for the most part, i don't feel there is one truth out there that any of us know. i don't believe jesus has anything to do with this truth. i think that most truths here on earth are subject to change with a changing understanding of the universe.
nobody knows, but we shouldn't kill each other about it.

i've read some of the bible. i'm sure you would like it if i read more, but i think i've read enough for my taste.
i'm not being fashionable.
it is the inspired word of god in your (and others') opinion. to me, it is the inspired word of zealots and such.
there is certainly fine morality and interesting story telling inside the bible, mixed with some dangerous and radical violent nonsense.
again, this is my opinion. i doubt i will convert you, but other athiests deserve to know there are more out there.

here's how you argue with that: god's word is man's lie. the bible is baloney. the fact that mormonism seems untrue to you because it is so recent just speaks to a lack of perspective. ancient does not mean better or truer or true. but this argument is obviously pointless. just thought i'd throw in my two cents.

sometimes i get full of hate, too. just like the majority of commenters here. but i realize that it will not make the changes necessary to affect the change i am looking for. i wonder if the commenters here recognize this as well. also, my guess as to why belafonte is disillusioned with obama stems from his signing of the ndaa, which goes in the wrong direction on detention. just a guess.
