You're impossible to have a conversation with and you probably work for Monsanto. Thanks for wasting my time.

I think you were really unclear in your comment.

GMOs don't "help feed the world." That's a myth. http://www.anh-usa.org/will-gmos-really-feed-the-.... The problem is that food we DO grow "don't reach the needy." http://www.ffl.org/emergency-relief/world-hunger/

If you think the only problem we have with GMOs is that they may harm human health, you are sadly mistaken. It's true that there is no hard science to back up the claims that GMOs cause cancer or any human harm, but just using your 123-common-sense: Do you think food that has has it's genes modified to both include pesticides/herbicides (manufactured by Monsanto -- remember, they were in the chemical warfare business before they joined the food business) and also stay alive while being drenched in those chemicals is something that is "healthy?" Did you know that several hundred thousand Indian farmers have committed suicide by drinking these toxins, after having their land and livelihood stripped away by false promises of higher yields and by going completely bankrupt in paying for patented seeds?

Here are just a few things to broaden your understanding. Perhaps this will help knock you of your soap box enough to think of this issue as more multi-faceted:

- GMOs CAN harm animals: http://www.treehugger.com/green-food/new-research...

- they help create "super bugs" that become immune to the pesticides/herbicides: http://grist.org/article/first-came-superweeds-an...

I could go on, but I think SCIENTIST and philosopher Vandana Shiva sums it up best: http://billmoyers.com/segment/vandana-shiva-on-th...

Hope that helps broaden your understanding and I wish you well.

Yeah, I read that Slate article a while back. Unfortunately, most GMOs that are planted and sold are NOT meant to increase nutrition. This is partially a PR stunt from Monsanto so that they can continue to try to monopolize and patent the world's food supply. You fell for it.

Mr. Smarty Pants: It has implications -- wide implications -- for how humans will react to genes from plants or animals that they may be allergic to. Look it up. You can assume all those who have a problem with Monsanto believe in pseudo-science, but you are wrong.

Plant breeding is NOT the same as genetically modifying plants and animals with genes from DIFFERENT SPECIES. Mr. CommonSense, you're sounding like all the paranoia-peddling a$$clowns you so highly criticize, just on the other side.

I thought there were at least 200 people at the event. They covered a fairly large area and also went marching through the streets. No 1 photo will show all of that.

Also, Camera, it would be great if you could provide some more insight into what people were marching against and perhaps do some research on it. The Boulder community feels deeply about this issue and you managed to squeeze more info about Monsanto's defense than why people are so outraged. I'm disappointed in this lazy reporting. Perhaps you all could do a feature on the subject? This is a worldwide movement, not some hippie Boulder-centric BS.

While it is more than likely that he cares about his students I have heard mixed opinions regarding his approach as a principle. I think it is strange that he hired his wife to be on staff. Sure seems like an unfair scenario when it comes to teacher evaluations.

Way to not write a real story on it and mention that the CHARM in BOULDER recycles electronics responsibly.
