My husband has worked in the car business for 20+ years as a manager at a Chevy dealerships. He has not been paid since December. He basically goes to work 14 hours per day to keep our insurance. I was diagnosed with cancer in Sept. so I had to give up my teaching job and we have a daughter that is a sophmore in college (to the tune of 41,000.00 per year, but she does have a 10,000 per year scholarship!Yipee!) But of course we don't qualify for any financial aide for her schooling. We have gone from living on 8,000+ per month to 2,000.00 per month. Our only saving grace is that my husband had the foresight to always save as much as possible, not live above our means and to we have absolutely no debt but our home. But what if GM goes bankrupt. What will he do then? . It is not only a strain financially on the family, but the emotional toll that goes on in the marriage etc. is what is the worse. But on his small salary (if the place stays open) we will keep paying for those who choose not to work, fall between the cracks of qualifing for any kind of assistance in the college arena., and probably end up paying for an illegal to attend college for free! The Geneva Convention was referring to other military forces from other countries. These people we are dealing with are not a military force. They wear no uniform identifing who they are.
