Please examine your premises. American movie goers are not the stupid sheep Hollywood and you believe them to be. I watched the Girl With movies from Sweden and they are just flat out bad. Why? Acting is bad, pacing is off, cutting is boring, very low quality all the way around. The same is true of most foreign films, they just seem to be filmed on someones IPhone. The reason I believe the movie did not do that well here is pretty obvious- it is rated R and opened during the holidays. Not a family film, and also grim. I loved it-it was exactly like the book- but why release during the holiday? Popcorn prices? Really? Movies are not bad because they are too "slick" as foreign movie enthusiasts wrongly opine. Most movies are bad because they wander and the director seems unclear as to the point of the movie. If he doesn't know, how should the audience? Have a point, make it, and cut out the rest!
