Gessler has a real nerve - he was thee one who, IN A VIDEO WHICH I SAW, said the only good election is one won by a Republican! AND he has had a hand in attempting voter suppression re minorities! He has tried that in 2 elections now! Guess he was afraid the Repukes would get some of their own medicine!

Well, this has a silver lining. When the Repuke Senates finishes paying back the Kochs at the expense of the public, it will be a shoo in for a Dem President in 2 years as if it wasn't already! The new Senate Koch Suckers won't even try to hide their public screw job!

The reason Carter has no previous record is because every time he does something that should get him in trouble, e.g. the infamous traffic stop, he gets off because "he has no previous record@" Hey Judge - that is just bull crap!!!!! And what do you call 2 arrests since his conviction, for DUI and driving without a license, threatening to shoot the prosecutor, witnesses, cops, etc. that earned his a restraining order? This is a very very irresponsible, arrogant SOB and I sure hope he "he gets the hell out of Dodge" and takes that stupid judge with him! I wonder if the judge's is term is up this year. Be sure to not vote to keep him!

AND take away his weapons which he probably was not supposed to have in the first place! He probably made threats and in that case, he shouldn't even be allowed out on the streets because when has he ever respected orders!

Just like his other infractions and bad behavior - he didn't have a record. And he didn't have a record because every time he did something stupid, he didn't have a record. It is called getting out of jail free all of the time!

If he got this DUI and suspended license in 2013, the BPD has to know this, I would think. I supposed it was possible to hide it, but, then, he has been driving a whole lot with a suspended license - even driving to kill the elk! And yet, here he goes on his merry way - no higher bond, back home to do god knows what. Just because they took away his weapons doesn't mean he can't stalk and kill somebody. It is obvious the DA and other police people are in some danger given they are concerned about his "mentality." He should be committed to protect all of us.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT! I am really beginning to wonder what the agenda of this Judge is! She is practically giving him a license to break the law again! Carter needs jail! If is were you and me it would be jail, not "poor little ex-cop" crap!

He could have started getting his life together by complying with what the Court expected of him now. But, instead, he breaks the law again! I cannot feel sorry for him, I just can't! He doesn't even get it why he was found guilty in the first place but instead of trying to be a "model" citizen, he acts like some gangsta!

My sentiments exactly!!! I cannot believe she would not PROTECT THE PEOPLE instead of Carter! If she goes soft on jail time she better not expect to be retained in the next election!

This proves that Carter has had too many free rides in the past "because he has no record" and now it has come to this and they still won't do anything that might finally stop his arrogant disregard for the law! One day, he is going to really hurt someone!

From the time the charges were filed, we heard these felonies carried 4 to 6 years in prison. Over and over so it was implied from the beginning that we could expect jail time. insofar s priors, this guy has a history of bad behavior and, it seems as though he always gets off because he has no priors - now we have felonies with no priors - the ones he should have been collecting. Carter I getting more benefits than he deserves - sending him to jail is not complex. THAT is just a cop out - no pun intended!

If he did not intent jail time, he could have plea bargained and saved the price of a trial. What vindication is that? CARTER NEEDS TO GO TO JAIL!

Sorry. I am very defensive where this case is concerned. The more I read and the more I find out, the madder I get that Garnett used HIS office to up his political stance when, if he didn't want to send Carter to jail, an expensive trial could have been avoided and it could have been plea bargained.

I am finding out that Carter is a very bad actor with a history that but apparently he has only been disciplined. Every time he does something the excuse is "he had no prior record"! Anyway, if you feel that Carter should get jail time, please e-mail Garnett. I am seeing that social media is driving some to comment to Garnett. I cannot believe, reading the comments here, that Garnett is receiving more against jail time. But, they are probably Carter's family and buddies! Sure isn't the general public from what I can tell.

You CAN help here by e-mailing Garnett and telling him this! You can ask for jail time since Garnett contends, but I don't really believe this, 55% of the people who have contacted him don't want jail for Carter! Those people might be his buddies and Carter's buddines!

Garnett did not say he wanted jail time BUT he did not expect to get all 4 felonies either and that carries jail time. An individual who followed the whole court ordeal said Garnett thought he would get ONE felony charge which would be easy to dismiss with no jail. That did not happen - the jury - our peers - gave all four indicating that the people want Carter to do to jail!
