It may well say more about *me* than the actual text, but when I translated 1 Timothy, I rendered verse 6.10 "But greed is a root of every manner of evil, which some, desiring after it, have strayed from faith and been caught in much sorrow."

They are quoting the KJV at Mark 16.15: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (The Vulgate also has this reading.) My translation of the verse is: "And he said to them, 'Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation.'"

That's the Matthew 5.3 quote. The Matthew quotes are watered down, but Luke has the unvarnished originals (sometimes it's the other way around!)

No doubt they find their out-of-context misinterpretation of 2 Thessalonians 3.10 more important. I see that verse all over the fundie sites.

I still say churches should not be considered non-profits for any reason, and should be taxed as for-profit corporations.

They are exactly what Jesus condemned!

Note the hypocrisy... they talk about freedom of religion this, freedom of religion that, and then out of the other side of their mouth that people should be shot dead...FOR PRACTICING A CERTAIN RELIGION!
