I get sick of these stories where the assumption is that smoking, drinking and wearing tight, revealing clothes are the sign of progress/happiness/civilization/whatever... I feel sorry for people (especially Muslims) who see things that way.

Does anyone remember where the Taliban came from? If I remember correctly, they were formed in response to a case like this, where a boy was abducted and raped. They were the ones who stopped this kind of behavior, and most of the people were happy to have the security they provided... So it seems that the stage is being set for their return.
