I think no one knows for sure whether the model TOC is pursuing in asking for public donations will or will not work out. On paper, a site like Huffington Post sounds ridiculous and possibly undoable in the long run. But they are thriving. Similarly, what TOC wants to do sounds undoable but they won't know until they try it out. And I don't think KRC is a decentralised system. KRC is run by one Kelvin Teo who is the overlord of article-writing. Wonder whether the day will come whereby KRC starts asking for money...
