I agree with you, Secretary Clinton, but I am afraid that President Obama's apology tour around the world did not help this situation. When the President of the United States doesn't think we're a very noble country, there's no reason why the rest of the world will think otherwise.

Die Hard number 10? Behind Lethal Weapon at #9?

What a fatally flawed list. Not even worth discussing.

Oh, the wonders of the human mind.

The sheer ignorance throughout Ms. Garafalo's statement is astounding. Seriously. But what's more shocking is that Friedman is nodding and others are applauding.

One stupid person can be an outler. Others joining in and agreeing suggests something else.

It's psychological. Polanski is one of the them. They're choosing to rationalize it away that what he did wasn't that bad. They're not dealing with it. I don't believe all these people are morally corrupt. They know Polanski. They like him. There is an explanation for his behavior. There must be. It just shows what happens when you have more faith in your feelings than in facts.

I think what has disturbed me lately (the last 20 minutes, that is) is a point someone brought up in another thread. How was this same group able to turn on Elia Kazan if they couldn't turn on Polanski? That is something I don't understand.

This is the first time I heard that Jessica's law is the source of California's financial woes. I like the theory though. It's fun.

I have to admit I find the whole thing kind of strange. The fervency of his defenders and well as the passion of those who seem genuinely angry about this. They couldn't possibly muster the strength to be this upset over each child molester of the past 30 years.

This has clearly become a weird outlet in our enduring culture war.

Let the law sort it out. That's what the law is for.

It does seem odd to me that they would execute this warrant now, and it seems like its more international trouble than its worth, but the law is the law and if the warrant was good and we have an agreement with Switzerland...

I personally have never been haunted by the lack of justice by our failure to prosecute Roman Polanski. It just seemed weird to me that our industry just kind of pretended that he wasn't an accused rapists that fled prosecution. But going over there and getting him just hasn't been a big priority for me.

It should be noted that one of the reasons why Taratino is so good is that he is allowed to do what he wants. In the way he wants. He is one of the few who can.

If anyone else wrote that 20 minute sequence it would have been cut down to 5 minutes by the studio, or by the director or the producer. Trust me, it would have been cut by SOMEONE.

I honestly feel that there would be a lot more geniuses in this industry if a lot of people got out of the way. Of course, there would be a lot more overly-indulgent bores as well, but... life is always a trade-off. :)
