I think this is their way of combating the inevitable and resounding NO outcome in the upcoming LOST vote. It's becoming very apparent that this city leadership is going to get their way and complete funding for it regardless. Makes me wonder why we even bother to vote on or discuss these issue at all. Our control is appears to be very minimal.
I guess on the bright side, from what the conservatives always say about lower taxes attracting corporations and business...those jobs should be rolling in here any day now.

It may be privately funded at the present moment, but what happens down the road when it needs to be renovated, repaired, or just doesn't bring in what it anticipates? It then becomes our problem like the 5 Seasons/Crowne Plaza Hotel. I'm sure it was privately funded initially as well, but inevitably, it comes back on the community...the majority of which seems to be against this.
An outdoor amphitheater, in a climate where it's freezing 40% of time??? Just say it aloud to yourself. That 20-year extension for LOST is suddenly starting to make perfect sense. Seems like they're just getting their ducks in a row.

With the sole intention of receiving an enormous tax break for that private funding down the road in return, right?

Going down to clean those air vents and traps right now. Good news that they were able to contain it to the basement. Best of luck to them with the repair process.

If your problem is with a teacher making a certain salary, I can certainly understand that being up for debate or scrutiny (although we all know it's true that you get what you pay for). This measure is aiming directly at the right to collectively bargain and goes beyond teachers as well. Although I'm not union, and there are instances when I see it manipulated to it's fullest capacity, I certainly see a clear need for it and appreciate the standards that it's set forth in my current working environment. Regardless of whether you're union or not...what working person would think the right to negotiate and bargain is bad? Of the endless number of things that can be done to cut a state budget, not to mention one that's in far better shape than most, it seems very short sided and agenda driven. I wonder how many of those protesters thought Feingold wasn't doing his job well enough and took the bait this last election?

"He told police he had given the man a ride because he thought he recognized him, but did not know his "name."...C'mon Freddy. So, it took you until you arrived at "his" destination before it occurred to you that you were mistaken? Anyone who buys that story...I have some luxury real estate for sale over in the Time Check area real cheap. That's funny.

An interstate motorcycle crash and the rider was not injured. Looks like he must have been wearing his gear and incredibly lucky. ATGATT. Hope he's able to get back out on the road soon.

Here's "less gov't" for ya. Good to see they're jumping in with both feet on the issues that affect less than 1% of the population...like usual.
