Yes, every day. I live in Bangkok, Thailand... things are very different here than in the US.

My city does residential garbage pick-up daily, no sorting required. I can't imagine dealing with these rules.

I saw something very similar about 2 months ago in a bar downtown. Three guys were sitting at the bar having a guys' weekend (old friends, apparently). Literally out of the blue, a dude walked up and punched one of them in the back of the head. The dude had a hunting knife in his belt, so I grabbed my friend and ran out of the bar. On the way out I told the bartender to call the police. They just ended up asking the dude to leave, and I watched him walk out of the bar and get away. Since then I really don't feel safe in downtown Portland, haven't been back at night.

Wow, this hits close to home for me since I have 2 young daughters, and I also have a concealed firearm permit. I carry my gun for self-defense and defense of my family, in the (God forbid) remote chance that an encounter requires me to draw it and discharge it.

My gun is a Springfield Armory 40 caliber semi-automatic subcompact. I keep it loaded, but I do not keep a bullet chambered. To prepare the gun for firing, the slide must be pulled back all the way, then released. This requires a huge amount of gripping force and pulling force, something no child is remotely capable of. My wife can't even begin to cock this gun, heck some days I struggle with it.

Owning a gun is a big deal, and I would recommend selecting a gun that has inherent safety features like mine does.

This place is great! I have gone through the "sampler" training thing they have several times. It's $50 and you get target practice on a range, then the scenarios. Huge eye opener for how cops have to make split second decisions with very little data, no time to think through everything, and terrible consequences for a wrong decision.

OK, I am a Christian and I was going to TD you.... but after re-reading it, it's pretty darn funny. Not exactly how I would characterize my Christian beliefs and experience, but yeah, you've basically got it.

Sounds like you'd prefer a government-controlled media. The media isn't a tool of law enforcement to assist with investigations. It consists of private enterprises who attempt to inform/entertain us about issues that we might find interesting.

The fact that the U of O kept bringing him back over 9 years indicates that he must have done a decent job. I don't see anyone complaining about his services. The administration was happy, students were happy. Let him keep the money.
