I keep seeing "Why shove it in everyone's faces?" and "What if we had a heterosexual pride parade?"
Simply being who you are is not shoving it in everybody's face. When same-sex couples hold hands, talk about their weekends together, or share a kiss in a movie theater, people ask, "Why are they shoving it in our faces?"

As far as the parade, when people have been denied basic human rights, and finally there is some progress, they have every right to celebrate.

Last year, the public officials in Oakridge lost $450 thousand, and had to hire a forensic accountant. They keep running their city government like Jimbob's Backwoods Junkyard, though, and end up with situations just like this one.

I don't know why you felt the word "need" to be appropriate. If humans only experienced what was needed to survive, life would be a very boring existence. It simply feels good to be high. Why should I provide more of an answer than that? Aged cheese, smoked meats, dark chocolate, double maduro cigars, soft lips and firm breasts all make life more pleasurable. So does smoking a bowl with some friends.
