I have tried to figure why the Forward was so critical of Israel .the Jewish organizations and the attacks on the Orthodox Jews. I even volunteered to contribute because I believed it was important to support the Forward
Debate is great but as an American liberal Jew and Democrat who supports Israel,I say the Forward is wrong and I agree with PJC 180 ,I am withdrawing my support.I also resent those of us who support Israel being called Right wingers

The headline of the story was worse than the article?
I found the narrative in the article interesting and most of it historically correct .
It was disappointing and astonishing to read that Morton Klein would not allow Agudah a platform at the ZOA
As far as Torah reading helping the survival of Israel I seem to remember from the readings of my Hebrew School days that the Jews survived because of the ancient tribe who were strict adherents of the Torah
Is it possible the Orthodox Jews know what they are talking about

Did you really say "grant the Palestinians" respect for their on and off statements about accepting the Jewish State of Israel and ignoring Hamas' continued daily attacks into Israel
You also dismiss stereotypes of the Swiss and swedes and embrace the malignant misinformed one about the jews. Perhaps if the corrupt Palestinian leadership had built a state in 1948 and an economy for their people one could respect them
Your comments however do not seem to have any reference to what the article describes "as the dark side of Purim"

I loved the article and am still smiling .The author I do not think meant it to be historical
The Revlon and Elizabeth Arden Salons on 5th Avenue in New York City (Both owned by Jews) were always filled to capacity, I remember bumping into Mrs Yitzak Rabin and Mrs Abba Eden who were there for the process of personal transformation "The Nice N Easy way

I forgot to add that I still believe Purim is one off our most joyus holidays and as my immigrant parents instilled that in me so have my children and their children continued the practice. We should and will include the darker side exposed but also the heroism that is needed when we or Israels existence is threatened.
