i am all for barney and robin but i dont think they are doing it right. there are so many different new ways they could have gone with it, but they are just going down the usual boyfriend and girlfriend thing. but tonight the problem wasnt only them, it was everything really, the jokes felt forced and the interactions between all the characters seemed a bit off. the barrel thing was simply stupid. and the acting! even the acting, which i think is one of the best things on the show, was bad.... didnt it feel that everyone was over-acting? it reminded me of "the stinsons" a little bit, too sitcomy.

the only thing that got a laugh outta me was the photo of robin laughing at a parking meter. its silly but it was funny.

im not sure the problem is barney and robin, their interaction at the end was sweet and believable, maybe it would have been best to see them trying to work things out, than having them be a couple already having fights like regular couples over jealousy and stuff.

i wish there were more group stories.

im not sure what i thought about this episode. i didn't find it very funny. and there was not enough robin.

my favourite bits tonight were the doppelgangers (marshall and robin's) and jason segel being hilarious during the dream sequence.

i do the check dance, JD. it would feel weird to simply assume that the guy has to pay, but i sure do like it when they insist and pay for all of it. :)

yes, this. and what i meant is exactly the point you made about she being mature, it happens. also we dont even know if we'll get to see the mother interact with the gang, i think it could be dangerous introducing the mother anytime soon... what if the chemistry is off somehow? i would prefer if the mother just appeared in the end.

my father is eleven years older than my mum. they have been together for 30 years, she gets along great with his friends. i have friends 10 years older than me as well as younger, i cant see why this is would be an issue.

as for the robin being into barney thing. i can see why people might be confused by that, but to me its no big deal. havent you ever dated a friend, or knew a friend that did? you dont need a big revelation moment where you decide you're now "in love", you just start hanging out, or in their case, having sex, and things grow from there. she clearly got along well with him before, and was somehow attracted to him, there have been hints of that for a while now.

after having watched the episode a good 3 times by now i have to say that the best line is ted's "sup dudes? SILENCE! "

other highlights for me are:
the girl nodding
"did you do this?" "-no." "flugelhorn! did you do this?" "no!"
"didnt we meet in a yatch?"
the exploding high fives
and the whole scene during the hockey game

i love that they changed the dynamics. it was necessary, the barney + bimbos thing was getting repetitive, and the whole "robin is a slut" thing was getting on my nerves. i think neil and cobie have A LOT of chemistry. and both actors are doing a great job, i was afraid it might be weird but i thought they were totally believable.

i love douchey teacher ted. i just hope they give more material to jason. he is awesome, the whole tuxedo thing was genius.

yeah right, because being single till you're 40 is the best thing that can happen to you. why would he want to be with an attractive, funny lady who wants to have sex with him all the time?

i think it can work, he was still very funny and very barney in last nights episode. we just dont have the bimbos anymore.

cobie and neil have great chemistry and i thought they were great last night, the scene at the stadium and the exploding high fives are proof of that.

loved it! oh how i missed this show. i think the barman & robin tone was perfect. both actors were great, they were able to express emotion without getting out of character. they are funny together, i think this will work.

best line was "didnt we meet on a yatch?" classic marshall.
ted was also great in schizophrenic mode, SILENCE! hahahha.

i am really looking forward the bloopers from this episode, i wish there was a behind the scenes with this one. there were so many great moments between them, specially those between marshall-barney.
