haha no I'm sure it isn't intentional. They just haven't caught up with all the statistics obsession that we have in North America. How many "official scorers" are there for NHL games? Like several per team I would think? I wonder if the NLA even had one until recently!

Those stats have to be placed in context though. Scoring in NLA is a LOT higher than in the NHL or AHL and defenses are a lot more suspect. The best players in the league are foreign forwards so the league has been tilted in their favor

ah thanks for that tidbit. At this stage, who knows? If he establishes himself in Switzerland I would think the odds of him coming to North America become a bit longer.

you don't think being reunited with Streit will help his spirits? Also the Islanders defense hasn't been THAT terrible (then again, neither has the goaltending. MacDonald did fine in DiPietro's absence)

That will help. It would have helped more if Streit were starting the All Star game (which he would be had he stayed in Montreal, no doubt). But I think a Swiss player will need to establish himself as a scorer in the NHL too. That's one thing they have not quite accomplished yet. Is anybody in the pipeline who can bring this about?

well it also helps the recognition of the Swiss league in Europe and North America. In Canada it's about the only time of year they ever talk about Switzerland in any way. But true it's just for bragging rights, really.
