(I'm guessing this comment was meant for the netbook post. Let me know if this was accidental or something my settings for intense debate may have screwed up.)

I definitely think there is a demographic for netbooks but just not sure how large it is. When I offer a netbook as a solution for people, I start to get questions like "does it play DVDs", "can it do games?", and I end up pretty much telling them to go for a "normal" laptop. But for those that need just the basic functionality, it can be useful. I can see it as a good *secondary* machine for someone who just needs to do marginal things while away from a primary machine but isnt a developer (hence, I'm out) or a computer junkie (too much it just can't do).

I think in a few iterations, the technology should hopefully catch up enough to do some real work on these machines. Much like how the iPhone helped the mobile industry grow up from just doing crappy web browsing to actually doing interesting apps.
