If you listen to Glen today, the discussion of "stateism" is relevant. Most folks are taken aback when they hear socialism of fascism but stateism seems kind of innoculous but it is every bit as dangerous. You will notice the left likes to believe themselves to be so high minded and above it all they demonize conservatives; yet, they seem so ignornant of history they prove Rush's remarks true - that liberals function with their emotions and what makes them feels good rather than studying and actually thinking through something.

Because he is a huge basketball fan, I suspect President Obama will soon be pursuing the "Michigan solution" for the economy. The Michigan Gov pursued policies which pretty much mirrors the current administration and Congressional economic plan. The state's problems are well documented; however, they have been able to rally behind Michigan State's basketball team and its excellent run in the NCAA. It is said to be inspiring the entire state and you really can't blame Michiganders. Perhaps as the President's economic policies play out, he will form a Presidentual team consisting of himself, Biden, Pelosi, Reid and Frank in an attempt to rally and inspire people. That may not happen, but what a hoot that would be!

CountryGranny is right - these are the same anachists who protested when President Bush was around. They simply hate capitalism. Her alluding to President Reagan should remind us all that change can occur with a revolution of ideas. We all are frustrated with a government that doesn't listen and a press which has lost creditability; but, in adversity we are forced to reexamine. I once read that in the cycle organizations, governments, etc they find themselves in a state of incline, recline or decline. The conservative movement reclined at some point after winning in '94 and began to decline when it sought to preserve power rather than live by its principles. We hit bottom in '08; yet, in that and in reexamination we see the beginnings of an incline. Prayer, patience, thought and words built around principle that convince rather than condemn was Reagan's way and should be ours.

The UAW share much of the blame, but you cannot exclude the executives for it is the entire culture of GM that has them where they are at today. Until recently, among the hourly (union) workforce there was an attitude that GM was a cash cow who could afford anything, For example, as recently as a few years ago the UAW briefly demanded pet insurance coverage for its workers. Conversely, the executives were short sighted and agreed to bad contracts. There also was a certain arrogance about them as they never thought Toyota, Nissan and others could compete until they were well on their way. I too hate to see government being the facilitator of this; but, one have to wonder whether the Board of Directors shouldn't go as well because they are the ones with oversight responsibilities. The CEO and Boards of many companies have developed a "good ol' boys" mentality and for creditability to be reestablished with the public, boards need to start doing their jobs.
