Thanks for all the hard work! I did the 5.0.1 JB two days ago which worked fine on my iPhone4. And now I see the updates for the launchctl-related fix and Mobilesubstrate. But rather than re-running Redsnow, can't I just re-install the Corona 5.0.1 Untether from Cydia? It's weird that the package says it is still 1.0-1, but underneath it talks about 1.0-2 and -3??

I'm running 4.2.1 on my iphone4 with baseband 01.59.00. I don't really need an unlock, but would like to preserve my baseband in case I need to unlock in the future. So is there a way to upgrade to 4.3.3, run jailbreakme and preserve the baseband?

Nevermind. GP for Windows works fine. I just did the upgrade (or restore) following Notcom's instructions exactly and it worked perfectly. Thanks!

Does GP work fine with Windows? I've seen posts that say you have to use a Mac, but the GP site seems to have a windows version RC5_b2. Does that work with IOS 4.2.1 on the iPhone4?

My carrier is Orange France 7.0. I also have a 3GS that I use when in America on T-Mobile 7.0. It's been a long time since I upgraded to 4.0.1 and I don't recall doing anything special.

I had that SIM lock thing happen a few times when I first upgraded to 4.0.1, but then the problem went away. My only issue with 4.0.1 is that WiFi is sometimes flaky. But normally that works ok too. I saw no value in upgrading til now with 4.2.x

I have an ultrasnowed iphone 4 running 4.0.1 on 01.59.00. Do I have it right that I can use PwnageTool 4.1.3 to upgrade to IOS 4.2.x and will continue to have Ultrasnow preserve my baseband? Or is there something I should wait for? TIA!

Is there a new tunnel to Apple in 4.0? I hadn't noticed this before, but now that I've JB'd my iphone 4 and loaded sysinfo, I can see a TCP socket open to 17.251.35.121 which is of course Apple. But sysinfo won't give you a process id. Does anyone know what it is and why my iphone is connected full-time to Apple!!!

Glad Apple was defeated and freedom wins. But please note that this ruling is only good in the USA. There is still the rest of the world to deal with.

Check your hosts file. If you never edited your hosts file, then don't worry about it. If you don't know where your hosts file is, ask Google or do a search in your filesystem.

Is anyone else having a problem with openssh and mobile terminal under 4.0? I was able to JB and Ultrasnow my 3GS to 4.0, and Cydia works fine. But after installing openssh and mobileterminal, mobileterminal just crashes and I cannot SSH into the iPhone?

What does the pop up window about if my 3GS is under contract through iTunes or not mean? I have a new iPhone 4 under contract, but my 3GS was under contract, but has been JB'd and unlocked for a long time now. I manage both with iTunes. So what should I answer to this pop up window?

For those us with the 3GS running 3.1.2, do we have to upgrade to 3.1.3 before the eventual upgrade to 4.0? I never bothered with 3.1.3 myself and I'd be happy to avoid it.

Hey, my 3Gs was running ok with 3.0 firmware and 4.26.08 baseband. I used redsnow long ago to jailbreak, but back then there was no sim-unlock. Also, something weird was that Cydia would never run. It always crashed. So I just tried the new PwnageTool. First of all, Itunes on the Mac would not recognize my iPhone when I use the PwnageTool to put it in DFU mode. But PwnageTool created a new IPSW for 3.1.2 just fine so I copied it over to my Windows PC where Itunes can see my iPhone. And I do the restore and it seems to all work fine. But now I have no carrier!!! I bought the phone from Orange, but it seems it cannot recognize the Orange SIM. And Cydia still doesn't work. It just crashes instantly when I click on it. I still have the 04.26.08 and the firmware is now 3.1.2 and all else seems fine. What did I miss?
