Well, since bank robbery seems harmless, why don't you give it a try?

I WILL fight for your right to say what you wrote here. Next time, understand that your right to say something as insensitive as that comes at a very heavy price. Your freedom comes as the expense of hundreds of thousands who have spilled blood and given thier lives.

Is what I write self-righteous? No. Not when I speak THE truth.

Please post next time with a little more respect and understanding of the history and reasons why you can say what you do.

I am a more world-wise, experienced, and balanced person than I was when I first enlisted 15 years ago. All I wanted to do was to shoot a "gun" and jump out of airplanes. Now, I don't WANT to do any of that. Saying that, If my country, my Commander in Chief (who I voted for), my battlefield commanders, and my fellow soldiers NEED me where they ask me to be, by God, I will be there and I will serve with honor, dignity, and character.

Please change your tone in trying to classify me as a homicidal sociopath. I am neither.

Homicidal sociopath? I'm glad that my age has mellowed me out a little bit. Why don't you just apply that title to me? I'm shipping out to Ft. Stewart, GA on the 13th to be brought up to speed at the Infantry school. Knowing that I'm going to be trained as an infantryman, do I qualify as a sociopath?

...I signed up to the National Guard with the understanding on my contract that in 6 months I'd be trained as a 25U signal support system specialist. My country asked me to go to Iraq for your blessed rights and freedoms. One of the caveats to my contract was that I sign up under my original MOS (11B infantry) for 6 months.

Wow...I cannot fathom the loss of a son. I don't know if I could have held it together to even talk at the funeral.

...Eldon, you deserved more time. We'll see you on the other side.

Tragic doesn't even describe this well enough.

I am rolling my eyes at this one. Terrorist? Probably not. Less than intelligent? Uhh...yeah. He is a 19 year old though. Guys don't start growing up until at least 25...and even then it's debateable as to whether we ever sincerely grow up.

So, as I read this article..this guy peeing in the bushes...good lord. Really? What a baloonhead.

Hmmm...I got rid of my dodge a little over two years ago for a Toyota. I gave up gobs of power and "street style" for gas mileage and reliability. I went from 22 mpg to averaging over 42 mpg. The Dodge I had was in the shop no less than twelve times for non scheduled maintenance. The Toyota has NEVER had a problem. I've now had it for as long as my past Dodge. The Dodge dealerships treated me like crap, feeding me lines of BS, taking my car out for Ferris Bueller "joyrides", and being unable to fix simple problems. The Toyota dealership has always treated me with respect, they even hand me parts that are scheduled to be used on the car but don't need it, showing me each time that they do. My little Toyota is worth more and the value will depreciate less quickly than the Dodge ever could dream about...They were both the same price when I purchased them new. The quality of engineering is apparent when looking at the Toyota. It is a stark difference between that and the Dodge.

...now, why did Dodge and GM fail? They don't have quality products, they don't have quality leadership, and they don't have a customer first attitude.

This is my experience. I speak only for myself.

Indeed.

Hopefully for all involved this is nothing more than what we've seen from NK over the years...

This is VERY frightening. Personally, I am more wary of NK than I ever was of Al Queda.

I would make NO illusions that any defence of the peninsula will be clean. It wasn't in the Korean War, there's NO reason it should be now. I'm more concerned about China and Russia and what they'll do (or not) if NK decides to lash out at SK or Japan.

Yes, there is no doubt that America COULD turn NK into a glass parking lot. It would be highly doubtful in my mind that even if NK used ordinance up to and including nukes that we would respond in kind. If that were to happen I sincerely see America, China, and Russia coming together at least reluctantly...To squeeze NK like a nasty pimple with conventional forces. The only caviat to that last thought would be if NK actually struck Hawaii or Alaska...

...And to think I just re-enlisted in the Army. Thank God it's not a combat MOS.

This is indeed a scary time for the region. As mentioned before, this is a REAL test for the President.

As a serving member of the Armed Forces, I would like to give a heartfelt and very sincere thank you to all of the families of the service members. Without a solid base we are less than whole. Thank you to all the mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters...to the wives and husbands.

Thank you to all who support the troops REGARDLESS of what side of the political spectrum you subscribe to.

We all know freedom isn't free.

and for the flip side of that I'll quote this,

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." Benjamin Franklin

God Bless America
