Bonnie, I was on a 767 flight where a Nintendo being played by a boy was responsible for the wings waggling - the flight controls were being affected. The flight crew managed to borrow the Nintendo and turned it off and on. Off, no wing waggle. On, wings waggled. Consistently.

In cruise, this isn't really a problem, as the aircraft has lots of space beneath it to sort out the problem. near the ground, electronic devices can cause a lot of issues, because there isn't a safety margin for the plane. You can't test and prove all the devices out there are safe either, there are just too many of them.

Jennifer Carpenter as Debra Morgan, hands down. She completely outshines her onscreen brother Dexter.

I adored October Sky. If you want to watch Chris Cooper using his talents to best effect, watch October Sky instead of the dreadful American Beauty. The story is inspiring, and true enough, plus it's a space story/kids growing up story/father & son story, and the rocketry is really well done.

This plus the Insider plus Galaxy Quest plus Toy Story 2 makes 1999 a pretty good year IMO.

Yes, one of my favourite all time films. I loved the ambiguity Russell Crowe brought to Wigand - you rooted for him, but he wasn't exactly a nice character. Christopher Plummer - another reason to adore this movie! - and Pacino was, for him, understated. Good plot, good story arcs, stands up well over time.
Wigand's wife was waaaaay overdone though.

Yes, he did, thanks for reminding me of that. Plus Ed Harris as Gene Kranz - another professional endeavour from him. Hanks was truly forgettable in his role.

Scanned the list hoping that Hanks would make it and yes, #3, well done Ben. I cannot understand why Tom Hanks has made so many millions for being completely mediocre and uninteresting, and I'll never forgive him for ruining an otherwise brilliant Apollo 13. His Jim Lovell was dull as dishwater and outshone by both his co-stars, Bill Paxton (which is saying something!) and Kevin Bacon. I give credit to him as an excellent producer and good director, but as an actor, Tom, you really, really suck.

P.S. #11: Tom Cruise, although these days nobody really regards him as an actor anyway I suppose.

The door is not only open, it has been torn right off its hinges and is now lying in a broken huddle on the floor. Cain's winning of the straw poll validates everything Sarah Palin has been working towards. Her political instincts have once more been shown to be superb. After the last debate, voters are begging for Palin to enter the race. Surely the current gaggle of contenders is not all there is. America deserves better. Palin is the best.

and thank you, Jazzman for reminding folks who we have to thank for delivering this seat to the GOP.

Andrew, you can hold your head up very high after tonight in NY. You've done your country a huge service, mate.
