The Atlanta Post : Lack of Technology in Urban Schools Is A Huge Problem

Great points! I am routinely surprised to see the reluctance amongst teachers, school IT and principals to adopt anything new when it comes to technology. They see it as something to fear and as extra work for them. These points are somewhat true, but the benefits far outweigh the costs.

EnterTheGroup.com : Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs: Who's the Better Public Speaker?

That's not been proven and is only speculation as far as I know. Furthermore he is one of the brightest guys around. The mistakes he made are not due to Autism or Asbergers, they are due to poor preparation and public speaking skills! He has social dysfunction, that doesn't mean he can't give a good presentation if he worked on it.

EnterTheGroup.com : How to Deal with Slackers

Sounds rough. Have you mentioned this to him in a frank and open way? He may not realize what he's doing is disruptive. If you have mentioned this to him and he still hasn't changed I would say the next stop is to discuss it with the senior manager. Explain it in terms of number of hours wasted not just by him but by everyone in contact with him. The dollar loss in productivity should be motivation for your boss to make a change.

EnterTheGroup.com : Meet Shai Reshef - He Wants to Make University Free!

No I didn't touch on it Jaimie, but it's a good point. I think they are working towards getting accreditation. In the meantime I think it's way for people in developing (and developed) countries who can't afford university to get some practical skills. I suppose if you're applying to Google or Goldman Sachs they may raise some questions about the degree, but if you're looking to get a regular job it may help you versus someone who has only a high school diploma.

EnterTheGroup.com : Working with Type ‘A’ Personalities: Some Tips to Save Your Project and Sanity

Good question. I think that if Type A's can harness their 'enthusiasm' it can motivate others to work harder and strive for more. The issue is that of building trust, both with the rest of the group members and them with the Type A person. The second dilemma involves the person quieting the mind and finding inner peace. This is why I recommend meditation and Jon Kabat-Zinn's books. The issue of motivational skills is also a powerful tool and this is why I recommend anything by Tony Robbins. His work has truly helped me in many ways.

EnterTheGroup.com : Should students learn entrepreneurship?

I think we could try to teach students the steps of starting and running a business. It could be a nice way to put into place the other standard courses in MBA programs like marketing, accounting, strategy, finance etc. Perhaps they could create a course based on a semester long project of starting a business, marketing it, developing a product etc. The grade could be based on how well students apply what they've learned. I know I would have loved that when I was in business school. I also think that this is something we could teach students at even younger age. I think perhaps junior high and high school kids could get a more basic understanding of what a business is, how to set one up and give them some practice. This is probably just as important as anything else that is taught today. It gives students a greater chance to become entrepreneurs at some point.
