the funny thing is - seeing the trailer on the big screen recently - Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow were the only images that created any excitement, but they don't actually do anything cool in the trailer (simply hold their swords against one another's)...

total misuse of the g.i. joe property (could have been a contender)

I haven't seen UP yet, but am very very intrigued by David Chen pointing out that the character is asian (not publicized like princess and frog) - and now this potential subliminal commentary on identity...

2 things --

1) I am so annoyed that films are perceived as needing to be 90 in order to be consumable - if there is a scene that doesn't fit then it doesn't fit - but to cut scenes for concern of running time rather than pacing, storytelling, etc. is just a form of stripping something of its artistic value to create a marketable commodity.

2) any fan of tarantino will see this movie regardless of running time - he is not known for scenes that take their time with the dialogue...

I really loved this short -- to say that it combines wes anderson and guy madden is a spot on description... it is a perfect of hybrid of their styles...
