Experts would disagree.
It's much more the cost of training and personnel than the guns themselves. Multiply this by the thousands of ships and the result is a huge cost passed on to Americans for shipped goods. If it's anywhere near as easy as you say, then why wasn't a security force on board? Some shipping company apparently won't spring for a few guns, in your delusional world.
