I'd consider getting rid of Alves for 40+ million. Think if they had sold Dinho a year earlier...probably could have gotten another 15 for him.

His past two injuries have been deep bruises. Maybe he bruises more easily but I don't think there is much you can do about that.

No offense but that isn't the smartest idea. You want to rest the best player in the world so others HAVE to score goals? How about just getting someone that can score regularly.

I don't think Barca should start off w/3 at the back on Tuesday. Chelsea's counter is fierce and that three man D always leaves a huge gap on one side of the field. If things get desperate later in the game they should try it.

Take out Fabregas, pull Iniesta back alongside Xavi and put Cuenca up front. We need wingers who will try and beat their defender. Iniesta tried that in the first half but never in the second. Cuenca can do that.

More over the top balls. This won't necessarily work when Barca is already in full possession and 8 Chelsea defenders are set but it will when they regain possession on a counter. It kills me to see them break and then hold up play, thus allowing Chelsea to get set.

Barca almost always has a clear early chance against teams like Chelsea. Their defense isn't quite in the groove yet and Barca find their way through yet rarely net the goal. They're going to need to convert that opportunity on Tuesday.

Messi was the best overall player yesterday but he can't be expected to score against Chelsea. He easily could but there is no easy way through their D. With so many in the box nobody has to make a desperate lunge tackle. Everyone can stay on their feet. When he cuts left on the edge of the box and shoots it will almost always deflect off a defender.

He didn't do much but he had a fabulous juke move that allowed him to dish the ball off to an open Fabregas on the second goal.

Nobody is giving up on La Liga. The last thing they will want to do is form a pasillo @ the Camp Nou when Madrid visits.

Bad calls happen on both sides although I understand that it seems like Barca is getting an inordinate amount of bad ones these days. There have been several uncalled penalties this year that seem pretty unfair but it's no surprise to me that Madrid gets more. Their style of play makes that happen. It is usually one to three RM players streaking into the box with the opposing defenders playing catch up. Barca's opponents stack 4 or more people in the box and those defenders rarely get caught out of position so they just cluster together and stay on their feet to deal with the pressure.

Don't get me wrong, Barca should have a few more penalties calling in their favor but it's no surprise to me how many Madrid have.

You can't rest half of the starting eleven and hope to beat Valencia. You need not look any further than the CdR game against Sevilla two years ago.

I agree with you that opposing teams adopt different tactics when they face Barca vs Madrid but that's not the reason Madrid is winning in La Liga. Barca have played like crap which in part is due to some players offering poor performances whether it is due to injury or lack of motivation/concentration.

The fire hasn't been there during this first half of the season and if they don't recoup that there will be many more dropped points.
