I am in same situation, I used Pwnage tool to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS with old bootrom running 3.0 for first time. I am now stuck in recovery mode. will blackra1n work for me? or do I have to update all the way to iOS4? thanks.

Same thing happened to me 2 days ago. I had iPhone 3GS running 3.0 and tried to jailbreak for the first time using pwnage tool and it got stuck in the same mode. I asked around this forum and only thing I've heard is that I now have to upgrade to 4.0 and wait for a jailbreak to be released.

My iPhone 3GS is stuck in restore mode. I can't update it or get it out of restore mode. I was running 3.0 and tried to jailbreak with Pwnage Tool 3.1.5. I have tried downloading the original restore but iTunes says this phone isn't eligible for this update. Is the only way to get it out of this restore mode?

I double checked that it was the correct one (most recently created and correct name). I even tried creating the ipsw a second time, but I was not sure if it would work since I couldn't do all the steps in the tutorial. My phone is stuck in restore mode, so pwnage tool can't put it in restore mode again. Not sure if those last steps are necessary since it is already in restore mode. I did try using the second ipsw through iTunes, but I still got the error.

I have an iPhone 3GS running 3.0. It has the OLD BOOTROM and a Pre week 40 serial number (I think it was 27 or 29). I tried to jailbreak using the tutorial from iClarified. I downloaded PwnageTool 3.1.5 (I chose Pwnage because I was going to update it to iOS 4 after jailbreaking) and finished all the steps in the tutorial. When restoring with the custom restore through iTunes, I got an error that the phone couldn't restore. Now the phone is stuck in restore mode. I tried repeating the steps in the tutorial but it gets stuck at the connect device to USB step. If i click restore in iTunes without holding option key it gives me option to restore and update. Will this update all the way to iOS 4? Is there a way to only update to 3.1.2 or restore to 3.0? Is there a way to get it out of restore mode and try again? Any thoughts would be a great help. NOTE: I had just successfully jailbroken a 3G phone running iOS4 with pwnagetool 4.0.1 so I do know how to follow directions, but I'm not sure if using the different versions of pwnagetool is a possible problem). Thanks.
