Building in the mountains doesn't force wildlife into the city. A lack of food in the mountains forces bears and other wildlife to the city, where they can dine on tasty garbage, bird seed, sample fruits and berries from gardens and compost piles. Not to mention they feel safe in the city do to the lack predators that might attack their young.

From what I've seen on Folsom appears to be utter chaos. The cyclist go from the bike lane to the side walk to the flashing PED crossing in a blink of an eye, they throw their left arm out to signal left turn without looking and immediately cut cars off and flying around corners and you don't know if they're gonna sail out in front of you. Lots of cars slamming on the brakes, horns blowing. FED EX and UPS delivery vehicles stopping in the bike lane and the cyclist are dumb-founded as what to do. CHAOS!
I observed a local named 'Rose' (anyone that has been around Boulder for a while knows whom I referring to) She is mentally disabled and can be seen walking the streets most days with her guitar case and back pack. She seems to function well and goes about her business. When traffic was backed up Friday afternoon blocking the PED crossing she became upset because she couldn't cross Folsom, no matter how many times she pushed the button for the flashing light. I was able to get the cars on each side of Folsom to make room so she could cross, but she was so shaken that she refused to cross, turned and walked away without crossing Folsom.

You're absolutely right. It isn't the worst thing in the world that ever happened. But, Folsom was busy enough and they made it worse. And yes, a couple of minutes a day in the scheme of things, big deal. Although that couple of minutes adds to the frustration of driving. I don't think most of the drivers are joy riding.
The real issue is that this experiment was forced upon it's subjects and they added another layer of difficulty to the maze when we had the cheese in sight.

Neighborhood watch, knock on the door and say" Hey, look you idiot, your trash is all over the place and the bears are coming into my yard because of your stupidity".

This lab rat has had enough! I was trying to make a right turn on red after stopping off of Folsom but was delayed because of a woman on a bike pulled up in one of those painted green areas at the corner decided that she would sit there and re-organize her basket and have a drink of water, in the mean time the light turned green. Oblivious to me and the traffic backed up behind me, waiting for her to get the hell out of the way. When I finally got her attention, she looked around and replaced the cap on her bottle and neatly tucked it back into her basket and then painfully, slowly proceeded to cross. By the time she got the hell out of the way, the light turned red. Right turns on red or green are impossible if there is a bike half way out in the intersection.Those green areas need to be pushed back or completely removed. The latter is preferable.
Screw their data collection, none of it adds up to a hill of beans in the real world.
