Surprised when I suddenly got a badge. As someone living outside the US, I hope there’s more activity oriented badges coming. But please keep away from the “Major” type used in Foursquare.

Actually… make it feels like Badges are afterthought after a “location based service to interact with peoples around”, a Bonus instead of Competition and promote the service into a Facebook for peoples close by instead of friends. :D

So, you’re talking about social behaviour of tech news audience rather than the technology itself ?

But to be fair, it’s not just about Facebook or iPhone. Almost all “awareness campaign” in real life had the same problem. How much actually give enough attention to change that “awareness” to “action”, no good selfish incentive.

Great points, and the order of listing it.

Either with those small camera or DSLR, I think composition and moments is always the strongest weapon. But I still find catching the moment to be difficult, especially in those fleeting moments where it's like we must get the answer as soon as the question arrives; and scenes where it would be challenging physically (such as being too far) for a satisfying composition.

But cameramen is as good as how they can be creative with that limitation don't they :D

Twitter is still not as ubiquitous as Facebook though.
Seems that Twitter and Foursquare is still dominated by the more tech savvy or the internet social folks. In comparison, Facebook is adopted by something comparable to the peoples who go to net rental only for checking e-mail and do IRC in the earlier days.
I think because not everyone is witty enough to post interesting status updates, but they can always socialize with playing games in Facebook.

For the Facebook banner, isn't it the other way around? It's not the carriers who promote Facebook, but they use Facebook's name to promote their services :D

Hasn’t heard anything about Koprol outside the early launch buzz.
So, they’re already up to the regional “Asian” Foursquare instead of just “Indonesian” Foursquare ?

Yeah, thought of the same thing. Maybe they’re hoping that choosing between this new feature and the old-and-proven screenshot would be too bothersome and eventually the curators would classify it wrongly and choose the method that allow them to delete the statements remotely. :P

Not available for non-touch devices.

Somewhat like Nokia's Symbian & Maemo strategy of using two platforms.

For living outside US, I’m highly doubtful this will be relevant. Microsoft never do things right about providing complete and useful local content for their services outside US, or their subsidiaries just doesn’t have the motivation to do so.

It’s not just the real feature or bug fix.
Frequent bug fix, even if not visible, give the owner a feel-good impression. It’s like, we know they’re still improving and not leaving their users.

Larger updates, like WM6 --> WM6.1 --> WM6.5 --> WM6.5.3… that means the device we bought will have the latest version available without the need of cashing out lots of cash for a new device. Especially true for devices that by specification, should be able to run the latest version of the OS but can’t because the OEM want to sell newer model (and we’re unlucky enough to have nobody making the cooked ROM).
